3/5 - Okay
Its very convenient and cheaper to stay than Manhattan but not much in itself. Safe though.

The staff was very helpful and courteous. Housekeeping was excellent.

The hotel ran out of blankets, so our kids that had to sleep on rollaway beds in 2 rooms- did not have blankets. The hotel gave us towels. We were very disappointed- especially when we paid for 2 rooms for 4 nights.

A lot of construction going on in the general area so it's going to be more up market in the future.
Can be a big grubby in parts, but generally nice and there's enough metro stations to make it convenient to get to Manhattan or elsewhere from most places around LIC.
Subway train and people were friebdly in helping out with train traveling. Supermarket is different.
Did not spend time in Long Island. It was very quiet, with some good convenience stores and fast food outlets. Access to New York was important to us more so than Long Island City itself. The walk across the bridge over the East River was worthwhile.
It's a factory district. There's nothing to do, nowhere to go, and no one on the street. So it was quiet and if you're looking to spend time in Manhattan and then just sleep in the hotel it's good enough.
