"Staying for one or two nights is okay, but for families or if you need workspaces, it's not convenient at all. The staff is friendly, but the room has a strange smell, and there is some damage to the building. Amenities are lacking; the gym is well below average, and there are no areas for taking a call or having a quick meeting."

"Our room had a conjoining door to the room next door, which would have been nice if we were traveling with a larger group. Unfortunately, the guests in the room next to us were rather loud and we could hear everything they said. "

"This hotel was wonderful for a long stay. The staff was amazing particularly Ms Ashley that helped get a room clean for me so me and my kids could get into the room in a timely manner."

"We absolutely love this property. It was the second time we have stayed. The entire setup is awesome between the pool, bar, restaurant, walk to the beach, breakfast area, location, etc etc. The room was clean. the balcony is perfect. The only complaint is the small parking area can be hard to find parking in at times. "

"The beach view from our villa was mostly obstructed. The listing showed a balcony, but our room was on the ground floor with a patio that had no lighting, making it unusable at night. The photos used for booking are misleading and do not accurately represent what you get. The resort includes multiple buildings with different types of villas, a hotel, and smaller units, but this is not clearly explained during booking—so you don’t really know which accommodations you’re reserving. There was no kitchen; however, we booked a double queen room (not a suite), so that part was acceptable. That said, the villa itself needs a thorough cleaning and updating. The common areas and building exterior also show a lack of maintenance and upkeep. Overall, the room did not feel worth the price we paid. That said, the resort itself has a lot to offer—we enjoyed the amenities, shops, dining options, views, pool, beach, and natural surroundings, especially riding around in the golf cart we rented. The hotel next to the villas was a highlight, with brunch, live music in the evenings, a large pool, great views, and a boardwalk to the beach. Access to these hotel amenities for villa guests was a definite plus."

"Terrible experience. Southbank Hotel was under construction, after being bought out by Marriott. This was not disclosed to me by hotels.com or Marriot when I made reservation. When I say under construction, I don’t mean slight construction I mean, heavy construction, and total remodel. The carpets were filthy. The hotel was understaffed in the housekeeping department so if you wanted a refresh of your room or total clean, you had to ask for it at the front desk. We had to wait on towels two days. I would say the only decent place in the hotel was the bar lounge area. On our second night there at 1:30 in the morning the fire alarm goes off so evacuation was needed. The person at the front desk told us if the fire alarm goes off again don’t worry we have the engineer here to turn it off immediately. We were outside for almost an hour. He also told us that this had happened several times. Speaking of staff most were nice and tried to be accommodating. This by far is the worst experience we’ve had with a hotel and especially a Marriott hotel."

"We always gravitate towards the Margaritaville chain. We have had fantastic experiences, but Jacksonville’s location, while only five years old, has already shown a lot of wear without repair. The drain in our bathroom had a loose cover that would come off during showers. At one point, it almost made me slip. The pool was a little small for this type of “resort”. I guess because the beach is so close. The check-in was on the second floor. As a guest, you were required to take your own bags to your room and had to wait to a cart. So, you valet on floor one, go up to floor two for checkin. The first impression of an hotel should be one of relaxation and hospitality, not a workout just to go up and down a single elevator to check in and get your belongings because you had to wait for a cart. Not to mention, Only one elevator is working. This was a huge problem for the upper floors just waiting to get down to the pool or beach. The wait time was a waste of valuable vaca time. I calculated about 45 minutes of my time was spent on waiting The layout of the place is just so convoluted you can’t enjoy your time for trying to remember how to get anywhere. It’s just not worth the 490 a night at all. I was very disappointed and unimpressed. The money to stay was just too much for what this location offered, the layout and the conditions of the hotel. "
