Overall I would recommend this hotel. I was only there one night whilst passing through. I noted I could see the sea once outside. It had an open feeling despite being just off the main road I did not notice any noise

Pretty average motel, only lightly surface cleaned, corners of the room were dusty and dirty, however the bed was absolutely atrocious. The whole bed was slumped in and on a huge lean, springs digging into my sides, base was broken, it was the one of the most uncomfortable sleeps I have ever had. Please replace beds at some point, I am convinced they are older than I am. Pool was kept locked so pretty upsetting we weren’t able to use that as it was featured on the listing. Likely won’t stay again when we return to the coast. Thanks for having us.

Room 12 1) The Good Bits * Nice bright room * Good size * Had hob * Had smart TV - really nice as terrestrial channels were poor reception * Had access to nice swimming pool but male changing facilities out of order and female facilities the ceiling was falling down * Nice decent size bathroom with decent size shower cubical 2) The not so nice bits * Welcome at reception a bit average - ok but not the best * Only two small milk pods in room fridge - had to ask for more - normally offered a small bottle in other motels. Not key but a thoughtful touch. * Had to ask for local map - Not offered at check-in * Bedside lamp - metal was rusty and it had a risky connection. Would only work if cable wobbled, think its a poor connection in wall socket on side of bed nearest door - not safe * Top of white electric radiator in room quite rusty * Right by the railway crossing which the alarm goes off (very loud) when a train is coming and the train hoots when it goes past (17:30) * No recycling bins for guest waste * Shower head needs a good clean - sprays in odd directions * Ceiling above shower is stained with mould. Needs cleaning or repainting A little more attention to detail and this would be a really good place

The room was spacious and bed was comfortable. The spa was cool not a hottub, swimming pool was very coĺd! There was construction noice right outside our room starting at 630. We could have been warned or given the opportunity to change to room on the otherside of the complex, they didn't seem to be full.

Unfortunately I did not stay. I was visiting Westport for work and thought I couldn't get any accommodation due to accommodation shortages due to the flood. I managed to find a place last minute, which meant I did not have to drive down to Greymouth to stay at the Ashley. Their was no refund or offer of a refund when I called the reception, which was later in the day.

Not worth the money! They advertise free WiFi but it's only 2g. Toilet seat broken, no sky movie channels and shower mixer antiquated. Bathroom very old. Restaurant and bar onsite but not open.overall very poor and would not recommend this Motel as it's definitely not a hotel. *BEWARE* total rip off!

The website, other reviews and general marketing of this property over sold its attributes and atmosphere. I understood it to be a hotel but the room was more in the nature of a third rate motel. Furnishings and decor were very dated. Minimal facilities in the room. No air conditioning. Bathroom decor very 1960s. Location very noisy due to room being located beside recreation area (pool etc), railway line just outside room and several neighbouring guests had very noisy visitors leaving very late in the evening (I.e. 1.15 am. ). They had also parked immediately outside guest rooms. The manager of this property should remind guests to discourage visitors after 10.30. It is very disruptive for others sleeping right beside.

I was extremely disappointed about this hotel. The room was tiny for three people which I have specified when I made the booking. The air circulation in the room was really bad. The room was dusty. Bathroom have a tub with rust. I am a allergy sufferer and am very sensitive to dusty environment. I could hardly sleep. The image of the hotel portrayed was so different from reality.
