We enjoyed our two nights at Sundowner. We had a family unit which was spacious. The price was good and it was very very clean. The shower was great. Electric blankets, a good heater and Sky Sport were very appreciated!

Pauline on reception was so welcoming and helpful. The unit was quiet and the cupboards, appliances and cutlery were spotless. The bed was comfy and there were extra blankets if needed. A guest laundry was at the front of the motel. There were no dining options at the motel but it is super convenient to many eateries including the Speights Ale House and Railway line. It was easy to find and access was good. A bit of a squeeze past parked cars outside units to get up the rear driveway but manageable. The outside lighting didn't work at night making it hard to see getting down the walkway to the unit door so used the torch on our phones but on the positive it meant an undisturbed sleep as lights didn't beam into the unit. Towels, t-towels and wash cloths were also spotless. Time property is dated but is clean and warm with additional heating if needed. Very well positioned for access to routes to Hokitika, Ross, Shanty Town, Tree Top walking and other attractions.

Greymouth is a beautiful town. Walkable with a lot of history to read along the waterfront. Lots of local places to eat. Friendly and clean our place. Big open and spacious.

We arrived on the tranz alpine train and they came to pick us up. The motel is very central but is up a hill so the lft was appreciated with our luggage. The motel itself is quite dated but very clean with a comfortable bed...all we needed!

We didn't feel comfortable at this hotel. It didn't feel clean, the walls felt thin, the beds were not all that comfortable. We would not stay here again. Given the price we paid, we had expected something more comfortable. We blew a fuse by using the kettle and hot plate at the same time, and it took quite some time for it to be fixed which made us late leaving as we were in the midst of cooking breakfast. I believe they responded quickly but first attempt didn't solve the issue and we didn't know they'd attended to the issue because there wasn't any follow up with us and the outlets remained not functional. We would keep driving to Hokitika or stay somewhere else next time.

Best bang for buck stay in Greymouth
Ive stayed in 5 star hotels which arent as clean as this. Super clean, even small little things like utensils to the kettle were perfectly clean and in working order. Super quick and friendly check in. Location wise its within walking distance to the station and supermarket as well as the bridge and town centre.

Our room was located behind the front building. Must be a fairly safe area as doors were open and keys left on the inside table. We stayed in a spacious two room with a queen bed and three twin beds which worked out nicely for the 4 adults and an infant. Full kitchen stocked with all necessary amenities, even had two stovetop burners (which we didn’t use but nice option). Even a dining table for four. Beds comfortable and clean. Within walking distance for grocery store and restaurants. Beautiful area next to the coast with many places within 1-2 hour drive for hiking/walking/viewing. The motel is located next to a busy street, but the motel and our room were far enough away so that there wasn’t much street noise. Internet was a bit difficult to set up. The hotel is located on a fairly steep hill which made maneuvering in and out of the parking lot a bit tricky. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this motel.

Old and tired property. Lady who booked us in let us struggle up the stairs with 2 large suitcases and didn’t think to explain we could access room from top car park without going up stairs. Just adequate.
