Holiday Inn Express Colchester by IHG

"Hotel was very good and the staff very helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was very good. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet style and there was everything you needed all was tasty. Our bed wasn’t very comfortable it was very firm. The twin room beds were much more comfortable. The rooms and hotel were beautifully kept everywhere was very clean and tidy. The bathrooms with the big walk in shower were great. They only have 1 ev charger and unfortunately it wasn’t working it would have been useful to know that before we arrived. As more people have electric cars now maybe they should email if it’s unavailable so you don’t rely on it. The staff were super helpful explaining where the nearest one was. Also it says on the website food can be ordered up to 21.15 when it was 20:45 which needs to be updated as we were just inside the time when we arrived. It would have been annoying to have to find somewhere had we arrived a little later."

"The room was spacious and very clean and had an open view from the window. Only one small problem was the bathroom had a bit of a smell that lessoned over the stay. Overall it was very good."

White Hart Hotel by Greene King Inns

"The food was excellent both evening and breakfast. Very helpful staff who were always pleasant and polite. If there is a downside it would be the tight parking spaces, but on both nights we were able to park in the overflow parking area. Highly recommended will be staying there again."
