Bodmin Jail Hotel

"As it was once a jail, the walls are thick and built under interesting (challenging) circumstances, which you can learn about. It feels like you are inside a sturdy fortress. The rooms are very well appointed and the bathroom is a highlight, with a waterfall shower and a fabulous bathtub placed on the tiles at the other end of a full length wall mirror. Lux. Staff were friendly and reserved, very easy to deal with. The restaurant/breakfast room is an old chapel. It’s impressive. Had a lovely quiet stay here, thick walls and the small windows of the cell."

"Lovely stay in an historic farmhouse. Great location for exploring both north and south Cornwall. The attention to detail was outstanding. Lovely breakfast with homemade bread, jam, yogurt and home produced honey. We even enjoyed extras such as Deborah's clotted cream shortbread and flapjacks. Ian provided us with recommendations for places to visit and local knowledge for the best parking spaces."

"The hotel was comfortable and clean, the parking was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful and chatty they went out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The on-site restaurant was lovely, the food was excellent. Location was ideal, near to all the attractions. We found the local pub next door’s very friendly."

"Due to car trouble we arrived a little bit late. This was no problem and Gerard welcomed us and showed us the cottage. Linda made some delicious scones and some delicous selfmade jams.The cottage is very cosy and clean. All the necessary is present. It is not very spacious, but enough room for our family (2 adults and 2 kids 10 years and 4 years).The garden is really big and outdoor toys are available in the storage room. Also a washing machine and dryer were available to use.Gerard and Linda live in the next door house and if we needed anything they were ready to assist us.Keep in mind, driving in Cornwall is a challenge, as the motorways are very narrow.We had a great stay at Torr House and recommend to stay here."

"The Royal Oak is a great old inn, with a well-stocked bar and excellent food. Terrific ambiance, inside and out, including outdoor dining options, The hosts were helpful and charming, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and helping me fix a scheduling hiccup too. And there are two friendly pub cats! Super convenient location in the center of picturesque Lostwithiel, not far from the train station, though you do have a bit of a hill to climb. It was picture-perfect. Best of all, the rooms were cozy and well-equipped, bathrooms clean, and the bed was to die for! Like snuggling into a cloud! I will make a point of coming back to this wonderful inn."

"Hotel is a bit dated and the double room was on the smaller size, but adequate for our stay. Missed not having air conditioning, especially during this hot spell and only having a desk fan to keep cool. Location was excellent, with easy access to both north and south coastlines. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice."

"Very happy to have off street parking. Bus stop just outside property so chose to do bus trip to Padstow - this bus goes to Bodmin Parkway should you choose to travel by train to Bodmin. Nice and spacious to spread ourselves out. A few great pubs and main High St walking distance. Would stay again."
