Restaurants, Museums, The marble quarry and the famous Crystal Mill.

Very close to REDSTONE AND CARBONDALE AND IN MARBLE. Hotchkiss, Peonia and Delta are great day trip locations where a plethora of fresh veggies, fruits and WINE TASTING are available in the bread basket of Colorado. Here you can connect dot by dot, one peaceful, inspirational experience to another. When you depart after a relaxing visit, you will have a treasure trove of images, memories and serenity to accompany you.
Aspen wood ceilings, clear dug fir floors, plush furniture, a sprawling open kitchen with tons of counter space, classic decor, a deep cast iron tub and 21' cathedral ceilings were some of the reasons why this home was featured in The Aspen Sojourner magazine mid winter 2008 edition under 'In style, off the Grid.'
Every window projects it's astonishing natural beauty into the house weather you are in bed, on the couch reading your favorite book, in the rocking chair by the wood stove, or enjoying cooking or eating a meal.
This solar home puts you on the very threshold of access to pure mountain beauty and ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES FOR ADVENTURE.
Beaver dams and a thriving riparian habitat are so close you can see trout rise on the lake. Mist and fog rises from the waterfall and settles into the valley offering dynamic and constantly changing scenery.
13,000 foot mountains surround, offering 360' views of rugged alpine scenery. In floor radiant heat is a feature offering comfort in the cold of winter along with a wood burning stove. Perched on a promontory you can look down 1000 feet to the river, water fall and lake and up 4000 feet to surrounding peaks and cliffs.

Although all types of activities are always beckoning we find we don't want to leave the house as being home affords the opportunity to observe in comfort and luxury, after any number of mini-adventures. Hawks, falcons, elk, deer and fox are commonly seen from the house. Rainbows, dramatic thunder storms, blue bird sunny days from this vantage point are common. The view out every window is a visual masterpiece of natural beauty. The cabin is in a very sunny south facing location; offering ample sunlight in the winter, great fall color viewing in the fall.

Marble peak is one of the most popular back-country ski destination in Colorado. Do a visual check off the deck as it is a peak just south of the house, about 3 miles away.
Hikes to the Crystal mill (one of the most photographed spots in Colorado) near the old mining town of crystal takes you along the crystal river on the way to lead king basin or Crested Butte for wonderful wild flower viewing, or watch the aspen turn colors in the fall. Lizard lake is along this road as well.
REDSTONE AND CARBONDALE CLOSE.

Soak in Penny hot springs or Glenwood hot springs. A perfect destination for families, romance, reunions and retreats. There are magnificent views then there are magnificent views, this is the latter! We look forward to welcoming you to our enjoyable slice of alpine Paradise.
MULTIFAMILY ACCOMMODATION UPON REQUEST.

Supurb access to every mountain outdoor activity. Vacation in comfort and style in one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. Please request more photos! I will be happy to email them. Marble tends to be significantly cooler in the summer than Denver, Grand Junction etc. Also, if you choose to stay at the cabin in the sky remember to fill up on groceries and gas prior to your visit, The closest Grocery stores and gas stations are in Carbondale and if you are coming from the west, Peonia.

Refuge in the sky
This is simply an amazing place, truly magical. The pictures don't even do justice to the spectacular wilderness setting, no way a photo can capture how spectacular, wild, beautiful and rugged this is. The town of Marble is the anti-Aspen, isolated, peaceful, and rugged and this house is on the steep slopes way above town. If you hike in Aspen, you do so with the crowd. Here I hiked many days and saw no one all day. The 4WD roads had more people, but still pretty isolated on weekdays. The house was a spiritual retreat, warm and welcoming. Unusual in that it is really off the grid and solar powered. The top story is kitchen, sitting, bedroom, and bathroom, very comfortable. We love to cook and found the kitchen very well equipped, far better than most rentals, and with the best view imaginable. We had breakfast on the patio every day, breath taking view, the only sound being the humming birds. The lower story is a living area with a sofa, a bed (no bath), television, and a large enough area to serve as my yoga studio in the mountains, again with amazing views. As pointed out by other reviews, the water is from a well and, as is often the case in the mountains, smells a bit of sulfur. It was just fine for washing, but as recommended we used water from travel jugs to drink. The owner, Anthony, is very helpful and gave us a tour and comments on how he built this nest in the sky, really a neat story. We highly recommend this experience.

Very quiet and peaceful weekend. Gorgeous views from every window as indicated by the listing. Make sure to fill the hummingbird feeder if it's season-appropriate as they provided delightful company throughout our stay.

Husband, wife, daughter (party of 3) 7-24-2022 through 7-31-22. Wow! The Cabin and the view!!!! The title speaks for what the Cabin in the Sky brought us. The 360 view of mountains was breathtaking. Being Blessed with two double rainbows after some light rain a couple of the evenings was a true Blessing. Anthony and Alexandria (the owners) were extremely helpful and the sweetest couple. The description is exactly what the cabin is. We have read things and rented before and it not be what we expected at all. This listing is honest and fits its real description to a T! Clean, well supplied for all you need, beautiful view, comfortable and home away from home. It is listed as off grid and to try and be conservative with water and electric. We respect this and appreciate the awareness and openness of not being wasteful. We didn’t have any problems with this part of it at all. Parking was a little tricky but we took their advice and backed down and it worked out great. Marble is such a quaint and quiet little town. We enjoyed hiking either in Marble or driving within 1-1/2 to 2 hours around to hike other trails also. Beaver Lake is right below cabin and many were paddle boarding or kayaking on it a lot of times. (Not sure where they got the paddle boards and kayaks though) RDS rental right there in Marble has UTV’s to rent to go and see Crystal Mills and there are guided jeep tours to take you too. Slow Groovin BBQ in Marble has great tasting and huge servings of food and the people are so so friendly. We thank you Anthony and Alexandria for sharing this little peace of Heaven in the mountains with us. It was a true Blessing to meet you both We look forward to coming back again! Highly recommended! God Bless!

Perfection
The property was heaven. The scenery from each window is breathtaking. I highly recommend this cabin and you will not be disappointed when booking this home and this area for your vacation spot. It has been made clear to you in the description that it is an off-the-grid cabin so this means you need to be conservative but shouldn't we be conservative anyways even with our own home? My stay made me realize that we should continue with these practices regardless (be mindful of how much water we use, and turn off/unplug items, not in use). Going to bed to the stars and waking up to beautiful scenery from your bed brings peace to your soul. It is a true retreat for the soul. Things to do: We did the following: A nice relaxing hike down to the little town of Marble. We visited all the locals and ate at our favorite restaurant (and people to visit) at The Groovin BQ, Rented ATVs, Went Horseback riding, Went to Glenwood to the Amusement park and walked around the cute city, Took the most amazing drive, and by far was my favorite (for me) because it was everything I love a beautiful forest of Aspen and pine trees-filled with an abundance of deer! It was an hour's drive to Crested Butte through Keebler Pass. Take your camera as you will have many opportunities to get great photos!) I told my family that is where I want my ashes spread. So we did do something that I do not recommend if you are not an experienced hiker and that was the hike to Raspberry Creek Trail. We loved it but you must be prepared for a LONG hike as it took us 8 hours we made it just shy of the top ridge before a storm broke out so we made the decision to not do the loop and go back the way we came in due to the trail not marked and very hard to follow. A lot of bear skat so take a gun or bear spray with you. Coming down in the rain on the steep hike was hard on my knees. The only thing I did not like about the trails around the area - they are not marked well and little to no info on them. I have ALL Trails app but there is no cell service so download info in advance! (I did not do) You should not watch TV and instead play games and put puzzles together, or even make friends with the chipmunks. We went down the lane daily to say hi to the little snake. We saw deer around the cabin and in Marble, we saw fox. Do yourself a favor - as you are trying to decide on a vacation - book this home. Cami Ciotta, Indiana Thanks Anthony for sharing your home.

Simply Fantastic...
We totally and completely enjoyed our stay at The Cabin in the Sky! Marble is a charming location-right out of a fairytale. It was a pleasure to disconnect and unwind from phones and TV. We visited Aspen and took a day trip to Crystal Mill. The Slow Groovin restaurant was delicious and some of the best service we have ever had. The bed and breakfast in town served us the best pumpkin spice latte and homemade cinnamon rolls of our life! Every interaction we had was a pleasant one. We recommend bringing binoculars...we saw Elk, Mule deer and Bald Eagles with them. Anthony was very kind and helpful. The cabin was clean and organized very well. Thank you so much for sharing your magical place with us! 10/10 would recommend!!!

Cabin Relaxation
We had a great stay at the cabin in the sky. Beautiful location, and we loved just sitting on the deck watching the sunset and the beautiful stars come out. The cabin itself has the essentials, which is all we wanted. Do not plan to be entertained by TV or internet for an extended period. WiFi is available, but very limited. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy company with friends. We played bored games, and chatted into the night. We also enjoyed walking around and finding some hiking trails to explore nearby. The instructions to get to the cabin are a little intimidating at first (“turn at the second stop sign” means drive 10-15 miles before you hit two stop signs, which threw us off at first), but be sure to follow them. GPS will not get you to the cabin. Also definitely heed Anthony’s advice and arrive before dark. If you arrive after dark your chances of finding the place are slim to none. Overall, and absolutely gorgeous place to unplug and relax. The huge windows and views were amazing to enjoy each day.

The Perfect Base for a Colorado Rockies Vacation
If you're looking for a beautiful, invigorating, peaceful way to enjoy the Colorado mountains, while also having easy access to some of the state's most amazing sights, it'd be hard to do better than this. We stayed for one week in August and this is our summary: -The biggest draw for me that made this worth the price was the balcony with amazing views. We've traveled through 40 countries and 30 US states, and having breakfast on this balcony every morning, soaking in the views and the peace and quiet (accompanied by hummingbirds coming up for water) was an absolutely top shelf travel experience that alone could make a trip worthwhile. -Next biggest draw is the location. It's a great base to get a taste of what Colorado has to offer. Aspen and Maroon Bells and Pine Creek Cookhouse are a lovely, easy 1-hour drive (and change) away. The nearby town of Redstone is also a lovely place to spend a quiet day (the Detroit pizza place is excellent). And driving from and back to Denver, Vail & Breckenridge are easy stops for lunch and stretch breaks. -Anthony is a wonderfully responsive host -Nearby Carbondale is very convenient for groceries at City Market (we found everything we needed and more), gas, etc. -The house itself is beautifully designed and lovingly appointed. In all, absolutely worth it if all of the above sounds appealing to you. It's expensive, but worth every penny. Some additional stuff to note... -We went in summer with a car rental, sedan, 2-wheel drive. Everything turned out okay and we had no problems. But driving on the inclined gravel driveway took some getting used to and I wouldn't have minded a car with higher clearance for turning into and out of the driveway. Also on the one rain day we had, we ended up canceling a planned day trip to Paonia because I was concerned about the dirt roads the last mile and a half to the property. We would have probably been fine, but if you want added piece of mind, spring for an all wheel drive car. -Most amenities were available in abundance. The pantry in particular was excellent and we appreciated not needing to buy olive oil. Loved learning the french press coffee (we're converts!). But we did need to buy paper towels and came close to needing to buy more bath soap by the end. -It can get a little toasty in August without AC. One day of 7 was quite hot inside, but even that day was totally tolerable. You can open some windows and screen doors and let the mountain breeze in. A+
