Find out more about Birkenhead

Birkenhead and its attractions for beach lovers

While Birkenhead itself may not boast direct beach access, its nearby the stunning coastline of the Wirral Peninsula makes it a delightful base for beach-loving travellers. Just a short drive away, you can visit West Kirby Beach, where the expansive sandy shores and shallow waters are perfect for family days out, picnics, or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll with picturesque views of the Dee Estuary. For those keen on water activities, neighbouring Hoylake offers opportunities for sailing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding, catering to both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts. If you’re interested in wildlife, the nearby Red Rocks Nature Reserve is worth a visit; here, you can explore the rich biodiversity and possibly spot some rare birds. Another highlight is the iconic New Brighton, with its vibrant promenade, amusement arcades, and the historic Fort Perch Rock, where you can delve into local maritime history. For a comfortable stay, look for hotels around the Woodside area, which not only provides a charming riverside experience but also offers great access to ferry services to Liverpool, making your beach excursions even more convenient. Enjoy the blend of urban and coastal adventures, all while staying in quality accommodation that prioritises your comfort and needs.

The Resident Liverpool

The Resident Liverpool

10/10 Excellent
"Very kind, helpful staff. They helped us understand the city and informed us about amenities the hotel offers, such as showing my room key at certain restaurants for a discount. We also left very early morning, and they were very helpful in booking us a taxi to pick us up outside the hotel at 3am to take us the Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The room was very clean and comfortable, and was equipped with a small kitchenette (sink, plates, cutlery, fridge, etc)"

Adelphi Hotel

8/10 Good
"Very clean.lovely newly refurbished bathroom. Probably the best shower I have had in a hotel room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is very convenient for the train and bus stations. Also museums all within walking distance. I would have liked a softer pillow but apparently they were all the same. But that was the only problem we encountered. The lounge is stunning."
