"Nice stay"
The hotel is well located, if you want to go to the Silk Market. Otherwise, we found the hotel to be a little old and run-down. Nonetheless, we had one night in Beijing and the hotel suited our needs.

The bedding is not as comfortable as Hilton, and bathroom needs remodeling. In good location, and quiet for a good night rest.

"Good value hotel"
You won't find this level of amenities at a better price. that said, they are a little worn but that seems pretty standard at hotels in China. The no smoking rule is violated routinely, but a little airing out seems to help the smell in the rooms. The Internet is very spotty in the rooms but pretty good in the lobby. Lots of connected restaurants and stores in the complex make this a very convenient location. The subway is about a 10 min walk and there are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance.

"Nice hotel with very good amenities, poor service"
I have always been pleased when staying at a Marriott hotel in the U.S. This is my 2nd international stay. First one was in Manila back in 2000 and that stay was very good. Although the 2-bedroom executive apartment was very spacious, there are some things I did not like. 1. Front desk staff was not helpful or very professional. When entering the room, I noticed that the sofa was not a sofa bed as advertised in the Expedia website. Needed a sofa bed because there was 6 of us. The bedrooms only had a single king bin each. Called down to the front desk and spoke to the same guy who checked us in, and told him we are missing a sofa bed. He said the executive apartment that he upgraded us for free does not come with one. "OK, so give us an apartment that has one. Sorry, we are completely sold out of rooms with a sofa bed. OK, then give me at least one roll-away bed. Well, that will cost you extra per night. I don't think so, you owe it to me." Long story short, I had to prove that I am owed a sofa bed so that I would not have to pay for a roll-away. Showed the Expedia website details on my laptop and he finally believed me. Later at the front desk, I recalled to him that he was only giving me 4 free daily breakfasts when I actually confirmed 5 guests. He said he couldn't because only 4 are included per their policy. A woman staff member overheard the conversation and said it was okay since 3 of the guests are children - now that is the type of service I expect

"Nice Hotel close to metro and forbidden city"
The hotel was under renovation when we were there; however, it is still my favorite 5 Star hotel on our China vacation. The Peninsula Beijing was a nice place to return to after touring the city. The bed was comfortable and they provided everything we needed. They even provided a few extras. It was no problem to mail my Mother's Day card to the United States. It's close to the metro/subway and within walking distance of the forbidden city and other tourist sites and of course taxis and cars are easy to get. The staff is friendly, fluent in English, and always professional.

"Great location, excellent room and staff. "
The hotel has great views of Olympic park, especially at night, and is near by a shopping mall in the park with restaurants. The Expedia rate was great, and including breakfast is a good deal when added to the room rate. Restaurants at the hotel are very nice, but very expensive. Breakfast was very good. Wifi connection was strong, but connections to US web sites is slow, and many are blocked by firewall in China. It worked well for email and news sites, not a lot else.

"Incredibly comfortable stay"
This is one of the most thoughtfully designed hotel rooms I've been in in a long time. Large room, comfortable couch with a footstool and movable side table, lots of lights, big, well-lit desk area with ample charging stations and a small supply of office supplies, extra long bench for laying out a suitcase, big shower, deep soaking tub, lots of closet space (and hangers!), room safe large enough to hold a laptop and other items easily AND mounted at a height where you can actually see into it. Rooms are very quiet; the complimentary mini bar was a nice touch. Good restaurants in the hotel; the small attached mall has several additional options, including Element Fresh and a Starbucks (and a very nice spa!). Metro stops within a couple of blocks of the hotel. Staff was efficient and helpful. All in all, this was a very comfortable place to spend a few days while in Beijing.
