The property really needs renovation and the replacement of the carpets in the hallways and bedrooms. I have been tracking for almost 50 years, and this is the first time I encountered the vanity was inside the bedroom and not in the actual bathroom. It makes it super inconvenient to go between two places to shave and wash hands. The room was so small that I couldn't even walk around. Parking is an issue due to very tiny spaces. I asked for a better room, but I was denied. Not to mention the problem we had with the open door to get in, we had to go to the reception a few times to replace the card.
This was an excellent value option for us for Banff.
We took a superior room which was spacious; but didn’t really get to appreciate the mountain views.
although the property is tired, most things were in working order: the lift was temporarily unavailable during our stay, but available most of the time.
the inside parking is not for the faint of heart with tight spacing and boots almost reaching the ceiling when opened, but I think they have outside parking for bigger vehicles.
Our room was clean and comfortable but the AC was very noisy and woke both of us up several times during the night. The fan could not be set at low. Old machine that worked to cool the room but was the noisiest system I’ve heard.
The room was clean and had a view of the mountains. We had a fridge & microwave. The hotel itself is old and in need of an update. We didn’t spend much time in our room. The parking was free. The location is great. It is one of the cheapest priced hotels we could find. It suited our needs.
The Inn is in a great location. An easy walk to all the restaurants and shops. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The staff were great. It’s an old place. Things are falling apart. There is only one wall towel rack and it was coming off the wall. The maintenance person came and fixed it. The exhaust fan in the restroom was hanging on top of the light fixtures. Most of the electrical outlets were loose so we can’t plug in.
Loved this property. Clean, comfortable room. Great location ... on the edge of the downtown area.
Food in the El Turo Restaurant was great ... they served us breakfast despite being 15 minutes past the serving time.
We arrived early and was told our room would be ready in an hour. It was over 2.5 hours later before we got our room. Service at the restaurant was extremely slow
Here’s a natural, plain-language review:
Irwin’s Mountain Inn Review
I had a pleasant stay at Irwin’s Mountain Inn. The room was clean and well-equipped with useful amenities, including a kettle, coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, and hair dryer.
The hotel also provided soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, which was convenient.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location made it easy to get in and out of Banff town. There is also a restaurant right below the hotel, which was very convenient for grabbing breakfast before an early start.
One thing to note is that the parking lot fills up quickly.
Overall, it’s a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Banff, especially if you’re planning early morning trips around the national park. ⭐⭐⭐⭐😄
