"This is hands down the best value in Aswan if you want the feel of a luxury hotel at a reasonable price. The rooms are not huge but extremely well designed and tastefully decorated. We booked a garden view but got upgraded to a river view room, which was great because the views of the Nile from this hotel are peaceful and gorgeous. We will always book a river view in the future. The staff at this hotel are phenomenal! Very friendly and very helpful. In particular, we want to compliment our dinner waiter Hadra , who went above and beyond to make sure our meals were enjoyable and special. Other memorable staff are Farouk, the front desk assistant/porter and Asma, one of the room cleaning staff. Both made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is open 24 hours, which makes eating very convenient! The food varies depending on the chef working that day, but I had the best lamb tajine I have ever eaten at this hotel. The location is fabulous—easy access to the museums of Aswan, boat rides, etc. Since it’s right by the Nile (literally) you can easily escape the bustle of town here and really relax. If you walk into the town directly across the street you will quickly be in a bazaar that goes on for several blocks. Don’t be afraid to bargain at the bazaar and definitely check out the spice shops. When we return to Aswan we will definitely stay at Nile Obelisk again! "
