WOW what can i say, i have been to Amsterdam over 300 times from young man to old man but the hotels ive stayed in range from flea bitten 'heart of Dam hotel' (red light) to top notch Kronopsky (Dam sq) so you could say ive been around....the DE ROODE LEEUW was EXCELLENT yes you can give the Kronopsky 5 stars cause it'll cost you if i could i would give the DE ROODE 4.5 it lose's that half point cause of the room sizes but hay welcome to Amsterdam look around you most of the appartments ARE small and narrow, the room / bath room was very clean until i messed it up, very quiet couldnt hear ANY noise from the MAIN busy street. As for the staff Mr Able was very helpfull on the phone checking us in. TV had a small problem they sent there techy guy who fixed it in a jiffy and sorted the super fast broad ban on my lap top....come on people from the uk if you want your home comforts then bring them with you or stay at home, this is a hotel TEMP ACCOMODATION.....finally we had a lye in till 3pm so we missed maid service for are room clean NO PROBLEM are room was spik and span on are return, i have done the same in a hotel in uk HAH fat chance for room clean same dirty towels made my own bed pile of my rubbish in the corner only till next day mind when i had to get up at the crack of dawn to let them in my room to clean. anyway if your looking for cheap hotel away with the boys then this isnt for you but if yr with the wife and kids DEF book this hotel. you WOUNT be disapointed.
Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Hotel facilities are clean and well maintained. Not too noisy even though the hotel is right by the city centre. We were also able to leave our luggage after we checked out so we can explore Amsterdam more before our train departure. The location is perfect, everything is walking distance. We will definitely stay again in this hotel next time we visit Amsterdam.
We had a wonderful two days in Amsterdam.
The hotel and staff were excellent, we visited the Anne Frank house, went on a Canal Cruise in the evening, visited the Great Amsterdam Synagogue and museum, and of course, the Red Light District.
Also the residents and taxi drivers whom we spoke to were very polite and helpful, and spoke better English than we did!

"Great location and room really lovely but no view"
This hotel is a little gem in a fantastic location, just near to Dam square. The breakfast is basic - plenty to eat but don't expect a cooked breakfast as the best you will get is boiled eggs. Plenty of fresh bread and pastries with cold meats and cheese. The hotel also provides coffee and apples to go - complimentary.
Our room was on the same floor as the reception (floor 1). We didn't expect a view but the window sill was about 6 feet from the floor, so not really any natural light coming into the room and we couldn't see a thing from our window. Make sure you request a room on a high floor if you want any sort of a view. We would certainly stay here again.

Great first impressions after we arrived a coupe of hours early we were allowed to check in. Free wifi, showers, beds all other facilities etc were great. The hotel is on a busy street but no noise could be heard on a night.
Rented both 11A & 11B apartments, first and third floor, 11B third floor a bit brighter and sitting room a little bigger but both fantastic. Comfortably sleep four in each, four single beds each apt. Didn't use the kitchen facilities or TV as out all day but the beds comfortable and bathrooms very clean. Lots of toilet rolls, small towel each, little soap and packet of shampoo. Variety of t bags, coffee - complimentary. Holger the owner is lovely and very accommodating - suggested areas to visit and although we didn't have time to make use of the free bicycle hire this time - we will next. Would definitely recommend this to friends and family - so central, 10 minutes walk from the train station. Fab two night stay enjoyed by all 7 ladies in my party
Booked this hotel at last minute and was very happy indeed.
Great, clean, bed linen immaculate and bed very comfy too.
Breakfast was continental plus eggs and bacon too.
I really enjoyed my stay and would come back to stay on my next visit to Amsterdam.

Extremely happy with the stay. I happen to reach the hotel at around 11pm as I was travelling from Paris to Amsterdam (by train). The staff at the reception was quite helpful, good thing about the treatment was the handing over of wifi password along with the room card (key). This was quite a refreshing surprise as this is the first thing a tourist would need to be at ease when outside the country. Recommend this hotel for Amsterdam.
