"Guest house near to rail station, airport, carpark."
As I travelled alone my single room was good value for money. My room was small but plenty of space for 1 person. The bed was confortable and I slept very well. Breakfast was cooked as you arrived into the dining room. The quality was very good, it was hot and well presented. Nigel was a good host, very chatty and well mannered. I was visiting holiday friends nearby so this guest house was ideal for my short stay. I would visit again.

"Secluded hideaway"
Set back from the motorway, blink and you will miss it. There was a wedding party when we arrived so the entrance was a bit untidy with glasses left on walls etc. Hotel staff were pleasant and hotel was in good repair, we didn't get enough time to explore the swimming and leisure area. The breakfast was very good although the hot food disappeared quickly it was regularly topped up, fruit was brilliant and the pastries were excellent. Would I stay here again, sure. Would I recommend this hotel, of course.

"Good Hotel, right next to cricket grounds"
A very clean hotel with a good restaurant with a good buffet breakfast included. If one is without a car it's a good 15 minute walk to a complete shopping area. No small store min immediate area. The cricket grounds are next door

"great location"
stayed for one night when attending a show at the theatre, Hotel is very well placed for walking to the city centre and also only a short hop from the theatre too. the room was in a corner plot and it was very spacious. we had a double sofa in the bed as well as our douhle bed. the only down side was that we asked reception for an iron so we could iron our clothes before going out. this took ages to come , in fact we had to call again to re-request it as we were running short on time by this point, when it came the iron barely heated up at all, i could place my hand on it without burning me on its fulest setting!! however it was too late to ask for another one so we just made do with crumpled clothes. other than that the room was perfect.

"Not the Holiday Inn"
We reached the Blue Keys Hotel after an 18-hour air travel ordeal, and were initially intimidated by the lack of air conditioning and a steep, narrow stairway climbing two flights to our room. But once there, what a delight. The room was cozy, bright and airy with fully opening windows admitting a lovely breeze with a pedestal fan to keep the air moving. It was very quiet with only an occasional ship's whistle from the port or a screech owl in the night. Our host Kelly was most helpful, lugging our heavy suitcases up the stairs and then delivering a late lunch to the room. The food was delicious and the apple and forest berry crumble with custard sauce was one of the best deserts ever. We slept in and so missed the full, cooked breakfast. The hotel is a 115 year old building, located in a peaceful residential neighborhood. With the restaurant on he first floor, it is an ideal choice for pre-cruise stays.

"Pleasant and cheap"
Cheapest accommodation we could find, it's a bit basic, but clean, with friendly staff. A comfortable bed. A good breakfast in the morning.

"Cheap and pleasant"
Found the guesthouse in my second week in Southampton, I'm working there at the moment, from the moment I arrived I was greeted warmly, I was leaving too early to have the cooked breakfasts so it was arranged that a sandwich would be made and left in my room for when I got back, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was quite central. I would definitely recommend the guesthouse to anyone who wants to stay in Southampton

"Just what we wanted"
The hotels were pretty much fully booked the weekend we went, so I chose a B&B. Abbey Lodge was ideally placed for meeting friends in Bedford Place and was excellent value. The owner/manager that we met at check-in was very friendly and the room was clean and the bed was super comfy. Our only gripe was the check-out at 10am on a Sunday! We didn't take advantage of the breakfast, but it smelt nice!! Still, will definitely consider the next time I'm in Southampton.

"Nice hotel built in 16th century."
From the moment of our arrival we were made to feel very welcome. Lovely old building with great character. The dining room and function rooms were very prettily decorated and the Millenium Room was fantastic. Large and very tastefully decorated. It was being prepared for New Year's Eve and looked amazing. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. Beds were comfortable and furnishings exceptional. I had a birthday whilst there and the Manager sent champagne to my husband and myself and our two guests. Due to the weather we asked if we could stay for an extra hour or two and, because there was no room in the bar, the Manager found a comfortable place for us to sit and we could use the facilities of the hotel. Very impressed.
