For the room price you get a hotel with a excellent location and great view of the river. You can take river cruises that start from the hotel itself ! and hop on from the hotel itself. All the major points of attraction like Dutch Square and Jonker street are just walking distance. The buffet breakfast included with the room was also very nice and good choice of food selection. Overall a great choice for hotel in Melaka.

Location was good for this hotel. Walking distance to shopping mall, jonker street and many more.
The setback was, front desk staff took a very long time to check in a guest, more than 15 minutes, and the queue is getting longer.. From my observation, they are trying to get a clean room for the guest although check in time is 3pm. At that point, it was only at 1150am.
He should have inform the guest to come back at 3pm instead of keep looking at the PC. We have requested to have a 2 bedroom with 2 twin beds and it has been confirmed upon registration.
When we came back at 7pm to get our room key, we were being told that the room is not available, and we were being assigned to 1 king and 1 twin bed. Kinda upset but as we are quite tired, we do not want to pursue further as my friends (two ladies) do not mind to sleep on the king bed, and myself and another friend on twin bed.
Room was ok, but need it needs a major refurbishment, and cleaniness needs to improve further.
Visited the hotel a few years ago. Now revisit this hotel again, it is still as good as new. wonderful service, very clean environment, excellent breakfast selection. though a bit far from Jonker Walk (15-20mins walk), I will still go back again.
I have, on previous occasions, stayed at the Renaissance (now Ramada) and the service is no comparison. I spoke with the new manager and he is trying to teach new techniques to old staff, but is obviously is falling on deaf ears. The reception staff were not very welcoming and the concierge does not start until midday and the reception staff have no idea about things that tourists need to do. They didn't even know that there was a bus direct to KL airport, so I went back across the road to the Ramada and got the information immediately and when I was leaving early morning there was no one at the door and no one asked if I need a taxi - I didn't because in the meantime I had learn about the local buses - much cheaper than the taxis. The hotel is really very nice but I would opt for the Ramada in future.

We stay in the Ramada maybe half a dozen times per year as Melaka is my hometown. The owners already know the renovation that is needed and it is now ongoing - better late than never. Other hotels in Melaka are newer and may offer an overall better package but we like the familiarity of going back to the same place where the staff remember us. So we'll have to wait and see what the renovation does to the rooms but the food seems to have improved even though before it was reasonably good. We're still disappointed with the pool - they have a great deck but as the pool is open to the wind the water is invariably freezing cold and therefore basically hardly used. One other good point, as the hotel is away from the Mahkota area, it is relatively easy to access even in the busiest periods - to get to the more central hotels you have to fight through huge traffic jams - not ideal when trying to chill on holiday.
