Tasty breakfast buffet, knowledgeable employees who fix any problems or answer any questions about the room and hotel services such as when and where their shuttle buses go.
They provide a free 3G phone which can be set to be a WiFi Hotspot for our own phones and laptop. And we carried it in our pockets to have WiFi access anywhere in Hong Kong.
A slight drawback is there are few reasonably priced restaurants nearby other than the pricey hotel restaurants. You will need to walk a ways or take a shuttle bus or cab.
"Small hotel room but comfortable and good service"
I had stayed in this hotel 5 times. The hotel is well located and their services are good and keep improving through the years. Although the room is small but the bed was comfortable, everything needed was there. But I must point out that when I lied on the bed with my head lean against the wooden bench near the wall, I can see lots of dust. The fridge is not cold at all. Overall everything was good. I will pay 2 visits next year to this hotel again. Hopefully I can see more improvement on that. Will definitely recommend friends to stay there.
I stayed at The Pottinger for a quick overnight trip . Since I checked in so late the hotel staff gave me a free upgrade to Room 1803. Fabulous suite! The entire room was well appointed. Very big and beautiful bathroom. Luxury toiletries also. The staff was very helpful in reviewing a map with me to point out attractions. It is true that this hotel is walkable to the Airport Express station. However, unless you are traveling with small luggage, this may be a bit difficult. Majority of the walk is easy, but there will be a point when you have to face stairs. A cab ride really wasn't that expensive. 350-400 Hong Kong dollar. I think it is worth the price if you have a lot of luggage, arriving late, or facing inclement weather. When taking cab from airport, ask the taxi driver to call the hotel so that he is sure that he knows where they are located. There is area near the bay called "Stanley" that my driver took me to first. Luckily it was not terribly far from Stanley Street in Central. One more note about Airport Express, once at the station stop, there are many pedestrian walkways to navigate that may be confusing for a person just arriving to a new city. Noise: It is true that construction is ongoing adjacent to the hotel, but that seems to be the case in several areas in Hong Kong. Not sure if you can out run that. Personally, I did not find the construction noise to be that intrusive. The hotel has so many great points that I would not let that deter you from booking!
*For these trips, trip savings is at least equal to the cost of the flight or hotel if booked separately. Note: For trips including flights, you will be charged by the airline for the flight, but your savings on the trip will equal the cost of the flight.
