Browse shops offering an amazing variety of goods and admire dramatic views over iconic Victoria Harbour in this busy, colourful, neon-lit district of Hong Kong.

Kowloon is a lively district located across the harbour from Hong Kong Island. The area is home to some of Hong Kong’s biggest shopping areas, an exciting nightlife scene and a number of museums. Enjoy the spectacular views across the water to Hong Kong Island, join crowds of shoppers exploring malls and markets and then take a break in beautiful Kowloon Park.

The bustling Tsim Sha Tsui area is the heart of Kowloon, where you’ll find hotels geared toward a range of budgets, as well as restaurants, shopping centres and some excellent museums. Browse the tightly packed shops selling jewellery, electronics, souvenirs, clothes and just about every other imaginable item, along Nathan Road.

Escape the crowds at Kowloon Park, one of the largest public parks in Hong Kong. Spanning 33 acres (13 hectares), this picturesque park features well-manicured pathways, a pretty Chinese pagoda and a lake that’s home to a colourful group of flamingos. Visit on Sundays to see free kung fu demonstrations and a small arts fair.

Take the kids to the Hong Kong Science Museum, which features fun, hands-on exhibits dedicated to physics and chemistry. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is a must-see attraction, offering an impressive exhibit of Chinese antiques as well as a rotating collection of almost 15,000 other items.

Go for an evening walk along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, a pedestrianized strip that offers superb views of the Hong Kong skyline. At night, Hong Kong puts on a dazzling sound-and-light show called the Symphony of Lights, which is projected on more than 40 buildings on both sides of the harbour.

Visit one of Hong Kong’s most popular temples, Wong Tai Sin, and shake fortune sticks, known as chim, onto the ground to foretell your future. Also worth exploring is the Chi Lin Nunnery, where there is a tranquil garden dotted with lotus ponds, bougainvillea and bonsai trees.

Kowloon is located across Victoria Harbour from Hong Kong Island. Get there by taking the city’s efficient Mass Transit Railway (MTR), or the ferry.

See a different side of Hong Kong in this vibrant district.

Don't listen to FAKE NEWS. The day we left on our cruise all international news was sayin that Hong Kong had had its worst riots to date all over Hong Kong. We saw nothing but quiet. Stay at CORDIS.
