"Cozy, quiet, and accommodating."
I stayed at The Fitzgerald from 11/11-11/12 overnight, and I was very pleased with my experience. My flight arrived at 945a, and I was at the hotel around 1030. My room wasn't ready to be checked-in, but the woman at the desk made sure to tell me to leave my bags there so they could lock them up and I could explore the city. I know that most hotels offer this service, but the way she went about it(insisting almost, in a motherly way) impressed me.
I came back around 1p, and my room was ready to go. I LOVED the old-fashioned elevator with the sliding gate door that they had. I rode it like 4 times.
My room was located at the end of the hall, and while it was the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, I loved it. The thermostat made it clear that it was heat-only, but the weather is so mild in SF that I didn't have any problem with it. A quick unlatching and cranking of the old-fashioned windows and the cool air was flowing in from outside.
The bathroom was spotless and the towels were soft. The water heated very quickly, which I liked.
The bed was soft and the linens smelled clean, and I looked for bedbugs(as some reviews have said), and couldn't find any. I slept great.
The late-checkout(12pm) time was GREAT. My flight back to Las Vegas wasn't until 8pm that night, and once again the wonderful front desk woman insisted on me leaving my bags locked up there while I explored.
I had a wonderful experience at The Fitzgerald, and will definitely stay there again!
