"We had a wonderful stay and the evening meal was excellent - highly recommended and very good value. Breakfast was also excellent. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge and bar and service was friendly and very good, the staff are all great and very welcoming. The grounds are pretty and the room was very good size and bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and can highly recommend a stay here."

"This review considers the amazingly low price we paid (£40), compared to other availability in the area. We requested (and booked) a family room, on arrival, we were given two double rooms opposite each other. Not a problem for our 1 night stay, but it could have been. "My second stay at the Portland Hotel, Ashington and once again, they excelled. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming (Jess and the guy behind the bar, sorry I forgot your name) looked after me very well. Room (I stayed in one of the rooms out back in the purpose built rooms) was lovely. Great to have a fridge in the room and a very comfy bed. Kept beautifully clean (Thanks housekeeping) and contained everything a traveller could want in a hotel room. Desk space, plenty of power sockets - I’m a very large bloke (six foot six inches tall) and struggled to get my legs under the desk but that’s MY problem, not the Portland Hotel. It certainly didn’t stop me working 👍 Food in the pub / restaurant was great. Good sized portions and well cooked. Speedy service too. The Portland Hotel has now become my ‘go to’ hotel whenever I’m back in the North East. Book direct for special deals! (Ask for Kaliffa or Mack) "
