"Hakone Gora Karaku was absolutely incredible! One of our favourite stays in Japan. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were exceptional, the service was so nice, the room was stunning, and the onsen baths were such a relaxing treat. The staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, making the whole experience feel extra special for our family. The location is perfect, right near the train station and the Hakone loop, making everything so easy. A truly unforgettable stay we loved every moment."

"The Good: Location - This is right next to the Gora train station and Cable Car. Excellent location. Walking distance from the open-air museum. Staff - The staff are helpful and want to help. The Bad: Dated - The property is SEVERELY dated. The bathrooms are old and moldy. Bathrooms - The shower area in our room was where the private onsen was which was VERY small and gross. This room has zero ventilation and 100% humidity because of the hot spring tub. So humid that the bathroom is ALWAYS wet, the ceilings are covered in droplets of water which drip on you. Cold drops of water on you while you shower or are in the onsen are very unpleasant. Also, there is visible mold on the ceilings and walls. The shower fixtures are old and crappy. Amenities - If I'm paying over $1000 per night, please give me more than one towel to be used for Onsen, shower, everything. Please also give me more than 1 tiny pillow to sleep on. Please give me more than 1 pitcher of drinking water for the day for 3 people. The Onsen - The open air Onsen is tiny, four people and it's full. Food - The Kiseki meal was good but drinks were not included. Again, I paid $1000 per night. Pricing - This place is SEVERELY overpriced for what it is. Verdict: I would not stay here again, especially for the price. Avoid this place."

"The room was VERY spacious and clean. We appreciated the lobby area and while we didn't get the breakfast option, there was a vending machine in the lobby that required us to download an app to use. Unfortunately with us being from USA, to text us to confirm that we wanted to load the app didn't work correctly and we didn't receive the text. What we should have done was purchase food, snacks, drinks from Odawarai station. We did a day trip to Owakudani and on the way back via train, we got off on the next stop because there was a Lawson's across the street from the train station. We loaded up on food, snacks, and drinks and jumped on the next (every 15 minutes) train to Kawakidani. Rakuten Stay Terrace also had a gas grill on the balcony and we should have grilled a few items. Next time! "

"Awesome hotel! The whole hotel is so beautiful, and all of the staff was so friendly and helpful. We loved that there were restaurants and the onsen and spa on site so we were able to relax without even leaving the property if we wanted. Everything was clean and well maintained and all of the restaurants were delicious! I would definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance."

"This PROPERTY IS FALSE ADVERTISING! The rooms are nothing like shown in the photos. When I reserve the room, I thought I have a room with beautiful views, and an open Onsen. That was absolutely not what I got.They were also portraying a large, beautiful blue public Onsen on the property, but I was told that hasn’t even been built, and it was not on that property. This company lies to get bookings. The staff is nice and very cordial and the included Japanese style breakfast was great,l. The existing shared Onsens were small but clean and nice. My room was not very clean. The couch was dirty with long black hairs still on it. Too bad that I had higher expectations. Otherwise, it would’ve been OK. The owners and management must be held accountable for false ad advertising!"

"We loved our stay at this beautiful property. The room (luxury twin) was spacious and private. It is in a quiet area but well connected by public transport systems. The staff were all very polite and attentive. The dinner and breakfast were some of the best meals we ate during our time in Japan. "

"The TEN-YU was an exceptional experience. The staff recieve you as if you just arrived home. The whole ambience is of relaxation and de stressing. Enjoyed a fabulous aromatherapy massage at the onsite AnSpa, which was in the most serene location. The Tepanyaki dinner was something else!! Beautifully prepared starters and delicious cuts of the best Kobe beef. We were able to unwind immediately from a long trip and made it a stay i will never forget!!!"
