"Excellent little ryokan, appreciate the attention to detail by the staff. They were happy to accommodate my request to adjust the meal for no fish and came up with alternative dishes. The private bath was great (albeit a bit too hot for a blistering 94 Fahrenheit day). If you are an early riser can even get the private bath before breakfast without reservation. Super close to Gora station. This was the second time staying here and would gladly do it again if I’m in the area. Aircon worked great on the hot day."

"This is a luxurious resort. We were the only non-Japanese guests there I think, and we felt welcomed and absolutely blown away by the experience. Our room was like a suite with four beds and a separate bedroom, the amenities were fantastic. The staff were professional, friendly, and welcoming. The breakfast was enough to feed an army and we tried both the Japanese and Western versions. The Onsen was beautiful and relaxing. Note, this hotel is situated in a hilly area, about 20 minutes drive from the Yumoto train station. Loads of nearby sites including incredible museums, art galleries and restaurants. But if you want to come to sit in your room's private Onsen, you can do that too. You leave your shoes at the hotel front check-in, so walk barefoot or in socks throughout (note for foreigners) and it's lovely. Absolutely safe, clean, quiet, relaxing, luxurious. Highly recommend. And get the breakfast at least once (you might still be full for the next morning so once might be enough)."

"The hôtel is wonderful! Every detail has been carefully considered and crafted using high-quality materials. The lounge, with snacks and drinks, adds to the hotel experience. Unfortunately, the dining room left us with mixed feelings regarding the dining experience. We made requests that were not honored. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the staff's attitude changed, and our dining room experience became unpleasant. It's a real shame because, although the hotel is extraordinary, I would hesitate to book again."

"This was the most charming hotel with so much history and beautiful details. We stayed in the Angel room, which was gorgeous and spacious, and had an amazing view of the mountains. The gardens behind the property were so pretty with little walking paths and waterfalls. We loved the 1920's feel of the property. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend!"
