"The first room the toilet would not flush. The replacement room internet would not work. Hotel needs remodeal. Breakfast was not good. Only carbs and limited. would not stay again. "

"We stayed at Highlander Mountain House for our 5-year wedding anniversary and overall the property itself is beautiful. The rooms were clean, the design and atmosphere are amazing, and the location is one of our favorites in Highlands. We also loved The Ruffed Grouse and the overall experience of the hotel. The only downside was the noise situation during our stay. The hotel was fully booked with a wedding party, and unfortunately the guests in the room next to us were extremely loud both Thursday and Friday night, continuing well past 1am. We even politely asked them ourselves to keep it down, but it continued. I completely understand people are celebrating and having a special weekend, but when rooms are this close together, there should be a little more consideration for other guests staying at the property, especially those also there for quiet getaways or anniversaries. I also think the hotel staff should take more precautions when hosting full wedding weekends to help separate non-wedding guests or better manage noise expectations late at night. It honestly put a damper on what was otherwise a really special anniversary trip for us, which is disappointing because everything else about the property was wonderful."

"Everything was awesome! Room was so clean and the bed was awesome! The shower was amazing. The location was fabulous…close to the casino, downtown, and right beside the walking trail. We will be back!"

"When you stay at the Balsam Mountain Inn you are staying in a historical restoration in progress. The rooms are clean and comfortable restored with period pieces. The bathrooms are small as the original Inn had communal bathrooms. The atmosphere is peaceful. Porch sitting is encouraged. There are no tvs but plenty of books and games on the main level which encourages getting to know other guests. The staff is very friendly and accommodating with looks of history to explain. The food and bar are exceptional. Since we discovered the Inn, it is our go to place to stay and this was our 4 stay. We are looking forward to many more as we visit the area several times a year. If you require 5-star, resort accommodations you will be disappointed. If you want to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, I highly recommend Balsam Mountain Inn"

"2nd time staying and would stay again. Loved the creek side. And basically loved the villa the only thing that we experienced was the shower and sink stopped up but the maintenance man came and fixed it emitely. The front is a teepee that would look awesome if it was painted.The grounds were well maintained had fire pit and grills picnic tables a very peaceful place. The staff is great."
