"Check-in/check-out was nice and easy. Rooms were nice & big. View of the beach, from our rooms was quite nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A note was posted that jacuzzi jets were not available to turn on. That was a bit disappointing. Rooms are located near the main street so we heard traffic and passing Metro train, through the night. Breakfast was more continental than a full breakfast. Overall stay was great."

"Property is as advertised - beautiful and quaint. The deck drops right onto a beautiful beach you can walk early in the morning with a cup of coffee. The roaring of the ocean at night is calming. Dana point was fun for food and day trips, and Laguna beach is close. I would highly recommend Captain Dave’s for a whale and dolphin safari. We were fortunate to see a fin whale, hump back whale and a “stampede” of long nose dolphins."

"House was clean and comfortable. Location right on the sand is what you're paying for. Only complaint was the outdoor furniture is rusted and needs replacing. The sand lot next door that is part of the property is totally unusable.It didn't affect our stay but it looks better in the pics. Outdoor kitchen etc. was probably awesome 30 years ago but not now.Still a great place."

"The house was pretty and the view was great. They had signs posted about the stairs not being safe to use to go onto the beach which puts the closest beach access to about a mile away. I saw once I arrived that it was mentioned in the small print of the listing at the bottom of the link saying “see more” but it was clearly stated front and center of this listing that there was direct beach access. I found this to be very misleading. Hopefully they are in the process of repairing the stairs for them to be safe. "
