Discover the many facets of our planet at the Earth Exploration hall, which looks deep beneath the crust to the geological structure of the globe, as well as explaining its place within the solar system. Head up to the second floor, where the environmental impact of natural disasters and human population expansion is played out in the Home on Earth hall. See dramatic recreations of flash floods and avalanches in the Ecological Disasters Theater.
Put your own body under the microscope at the Health Testing Center in the Human and Health hall, or step inside a giant model to find out just how food is digested. At the other end of the scale, Space Navigation will take you to the farthest reaches of the universe. If you’ve ever dreamed of being an astronaut, these interactive exhibits will make your dreams come true!
One of the most popular exhibition halls is the World of Robots. Try to beat a robot in an archery challenge, or pit your wits against the Robot Gobang Player in a game of chess. Not only will you discover fascinating developments in the world of robotics, but you can also explore the ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence.
Head down to the ground floor and basement, where you will find four different cinemas: the IMAX Dome Theater, the IMAX 3D Theater, the Space Theater and the Iwerks 4D Theater, where the magic of science will be brought to life.
The museum is open every day with the exception of Mondays. It is located in Century Avenue, and the closest metro station is Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.
