Casa Santurce.
This stay was great, and affordable. I took a solo trip to Puerto Rico, and I met many great people. The condition of the room is not ideal, and there are some bugs present. Overall in a good area.
We loved our stay there. The room was plenty adequate, clean, comfortable. Very convenient location. Best of all, the people, staff and other travelers, were friendly, helpful, open, and interesting.
Had a wonderful stay at Casa Santurce! Loved the social atmosphere, friendly staff, and lots of activities. Will absolutely stay here again my next time in San Juan!
I didn't appreciate that my room wasn't clean properly napkin on the floor , hair was the floor ..
Sunny was very friendly on the property.
And the only good thing about the area everything is close by .
Comfy bed, good water pressure in shower, ac was nice and cold. Staff were extremely friendly. Everything was on point for $50 a night for a private room.

The room was cozy, and there was a great deck on the top floor, but the room need roach control, and laundry was going on until midnight.
You get what you pay for mostly, bathroom was way too cramped, the shower was just a pipe, and the beds didn't have blankets. But the beds were comfy and the water seemed clean which was a plus. Location is also nice, in the center so in walking distance of beaches, convention centers, mall, and Old San Juan. Overall not too bad for the price

I might say you get what you pay for. Normally I stay at Nomada Beach hostel, but since I was on a shoestring I went the budget route with Casa Santurce. It was a low key place but the bunk rooms are cramped, and their is no kitchen. For a few dollars more at Nomada you get a pool, a nice kitchen, much better showers, and many different sitting areas. I'd suggest that Casa Santurce make this more cooking friendly, and also provide a few more places to sit.

6/10 decent hostile
Ok back packers hostel. I’ve staid at much nicer for $10 a night. Beds were ok shower was a little dirty. Sheets were clean floors were clean. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Personally I’d try another hostel next time but nothing to complain about.
The place reeked of cat urine from the 20-30 cats inhabiting the place. The rooms were basically the side of the bed plus one foot on the sides and 3 foot at the bottom of the bed.
The bathroom was hard to use because it was so tiny. Also the sink was broken and the shower barely worked. I could use the toilet if I bent my knees.
The place was just across the street from a pool hall, and it sounded as if the people there were outside my door.
The last straw was when cockroaches started coming out of the bedsheet.
On the plus side, the staff was very nice and tried to be helpful.

One night stay here
Room had A/C bed and private bathroom. There was water leaking in the bathroom was my biggest complaint. Views were nice from the roof and was close to everything. It was nice being able to interact with people from all over and I felt safe. It’s not a hotel but was better than my previous hostel. There’s a bar right across the street. Limited parking can get busy but wasn’t too bad. Bathroom was small and wasn’t the best but better than nothing. You want a better experience book a hotel but price could’ve been less. I’d say worth like $30-$45

Quiet, comfortable bed, that's it.
I stayed in a private bedroom. I didn't receive the self check in email. Luckily, someone who worked there was hanging out and could help me after hours, as I arrived after midnight. The room is extremely basic, but the bed was comfortable. There was electricity when I checked in. There was A/C. There was Wi-Fi. No electricity, and no water whatsoever on the property nor neighboring properties due to an electrical outage in the neighborhood when I checked out. I did get a quiet and comfortable night's sleep.
Overall, you get what you pay for. It was only about a 10-minute drive from the airport, a short walk to the beach and 2 areas to bar hop, and only about a 20-minute drive from old SJ, which was great as we did not have to Uber much. The discount on the El Yunque tour (highly recommend) was great as well. When we arrived, we were immediately helped and shown to our room, which was the single dorm. When inside, we noticed the AC did not work, and the only source of airflow was a fan that also turned on the light, meaning we could not have it on at night. Additionally, there was no blanket (only a top sheet), and for 2 guests we were only given one towel. The bathroom was so small we had to sit sideways on the toilet, and the hot water in the sink did not work. On the last night, the room became very humid and muggy to the point where water was dripping from the ceiling causing our floors, bed, bags, and clothes to be wet. I can't say I regret staying here because of how cheap it was, but I don't think I would stay here again.
I traveled solo for the second time and as a woman, it can be a little nerve racking. The staff and volunteers at Casa Santurce made me feel so welcomed and even though I arrived at 2am after the check in hours were closed. One of the staff members, Kelly, happen to come out and get me into my room! I was so thankful and grateful! I was ready to sleep on the floor lol. Sadie, Wasabi, Justice, Carmine and Sunny were such kind and real straight up people! Which is hard to find so thank the Lord for them !! They helped me figure out the bus, activities I could do and genuinely were just fun to hangout and converse with. I’m loving this hostel life and even when the AC broke for one night they were so apologetic and quick to get it fixed the same day! They were even willing to move any of us to a different room with a working AC if they couldn’t figure it out. But they did! This house is also pretty central to anything near San Juan so it made getting around with a quick Uber or even to walk. The other people staying in the hostel were also super friendly and great to check out places together with when I didn’t want to be by myself! This is a great place to meet people from different parts of the world and turned into some good new friends! Gracias por todo Cafe Santurce y nos vemos pronto!!!
