"Good value for money, well positioned to walk to Hastings and St Leonard’s. Nice to have free parking in front of hotel. Restaurant and bar areas decorated very well. Staff very helpful and friendly. Adequate breakfast freshly cooked. Filter coffee very nice, unfortunately teabags were of a poor quality. I was tempted to order a Filipino breakfast which was advertised on the restaurant menu in the reception area. However upon being told that it would cost be £12.95 extra I decided to stick to the full English. Didn’t use the bar. "

"Lovely small hotel perched up top of Rye overlooking fantastic scenery. Staff welcoming and considerate. Breakfast is served to your personal choices, centred on English traditional style, which is very good. No lift, and some pretty steep stairs for us, so will not suit all. Approach is up a side road, reasonable gradient for luggage on wheels. Rooms a little tired, but its a very old building must be remembered. Bed was absolutely fine with clean linen, bathroom well fitted out with nice shower as well as a separate bath. Clean towels and sundries plentiful. Good wi-fi. Definitely recommend if your fit and healthy. Rye is a little gem, great pubs and restaurants."

"This is an ancient, historic hotel. Be mindful of the fact that you are staying here more for the character and historical significance then for the comfort. Stairways are small and steep and parking - went available at all - is challenging. That said, however, the staff is very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our one night stay."
