Search Ricavo hotels

The best area to stay in Ricavo is within one of the beautifully restored villas or farmhouses located in the hills surrounding the village centre.

These properties offer a blend of traditional Tuscan architecture with modern comforts. Many are set within private estates, often featuring their own vineyards, olive groves, and stunning views of the countryside. You'll find them dotted along the winding roads leading up to and around Ricavo, providing a sense of seclusion while still being a short drive from the village.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find these private villas ideal. They often come with amenities like private pools, spacious gardens, and fully equipped kitchens, allowing for intimate dinners overlooking the rolling hills. The focus here is on relaxation and enjoying the peaceful rural setting, with opportunities for wine tasting right on your doorstep.

Families will also appreciate the space and facilities offered by larger farmhouses. These properties often have multiple bedrooms, recreational areas, and plenty of outdoor space for children to play. Many are equipped with high-end kitchens, great for preparing meals with fresh local ingredients, and some even offer cooking classes.

The best time to visit Ricavo is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the Tuscan countryside is at its most beautiful.

During late spring, the days are warm and sunny, great for exploring the vineyards and olive groves. The landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in bloom, making it ideal for scenic drives or leisurely walks. It's also before the peak summer crowds, so you'll find the popular towns and attractions a bit less busy.

Early autumn offers similar delightful weather, with comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities. This period coincides with the grape harvest, known as "vendemmia," providing a unique opportunity to see the local traditions firsthand. The autumn colours begin to emerge, painting the hillsides in rich hues, which is particularly appealing for couples seeking a romantic escape.

While summer (July and August) is popular, it can be quite hot, and many Italian families take their holidays then, meaning some areas might be more crowded.
