The replica village is situated in a scenic hillside spot overlooking Medellín. Explore this charming pre-urban settlement and enjoy its memorable views of the city below and the mountains beyond.
Opened in 1978, the Pueblito Paisa was modelled after the idea of an archetypal town in the state of Antioquia. Within the town, you will find a range of cosy commercial buildings, a lovely church and a charming main square built around a central stone fountain. The name of the site translates as Little Antioquian Town, combining the Spanish word for little town (pueblito’) with a local nickname for people from the state (paisa).
Head to Pueblito Paisa’s main square, located in the centre of town. This cobblestone plaza is populated by numerous plants and completed with a picturesque fountain. Explore the various market stalls, choosing between the various souvenirs, electronics, jewellery and clothing on display.
Walking the streets of Pueblito Paisa, browse the town’s lovely storefronts. Take your pick from the little restaurants serving food in the traditional style. Try out fried chicken and beans, or opt for the local speciality, bandeja paisa (Antioquia Platter), a dish that consists of ground meat, fried egg, fried pork rinds, plaintain and black pudding.
A scenic outlook in Pueblito Paisa offers panoramic views of Medillíni and its surrounding countryside, the mountains and hills of which provide Medellín with a stunning backdrop. The view is even better during sunsets, as the sky is filled up with warm, vivid colours.
Pueblito Paisa is situated at the top of a hill called Cerro Nutibara, just a few blocks west of the Medellín river. There is a fee to park in the large on-site parking lot, although walking around the model town is free. The area is also accessible via the Exposiciones subway station.
