The local Elk grocery & mercantile store clerks were wonderful and full of ideas to fill our time. We took a trip to Mendocino and Fort Bragg along the beautiful coast. "This place is magical. While the main building (with an excellent restaurant) is stately and unique, we stayed at The Brambles in a redwood grove. Being from Santa Cruz, we’re used to redwoods, but these trees—especially the Pachyderm—are amazing. The combination of Steam Punk and farmhouse decor is whimsical and delightful. "We had a nice stay- we walked from the cabin to the hotel for dinner and had a great time. We also walked over to the bakery in the morning for scones and empanadas. The creek runs the behind the house. There is no wifi or cable so it was a good opportunity to unplug and relax."
