Treat yourself to a bird’s-eye view of the verdant stretch of land nicknamed The Valley of the Kings, a place of striking beauty and historical importance.
"We had great directions and notes left by host which made finding the cabin easy with little cell reception. We got there a little early and enjoyed the grounds, hiking and checking out the river and waterfalls. The host found us on the property and let us know our cabin was ready for early check in which was great and very accommodating because we got a nap in before going to our event we had to attend.Very helpful and responsive. WiFi is great too.Grounds are peaceful and beautiful. My family of 4 fit perfectly. I would definitely recommend. "
Inspired 1-BR, Magic Gardens, Stream and Waterfall
10/10 Excellent
"We were very impressed with the grounds, which is literally a lovely jungle botanical garden. Just within steps of the house is a small stream and waterfall, surrounded by beautiful tropical plants. The unit itself was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with all the amenities you can think of. Locally, the dining options are fairly limited, because the nearby town, (Honokaha), is very small. But, there's a large grocery store, if you want to pick up some items as you pass through town. There is an adequate assortment of shops in Honokaha to keep you busy for a day of browsing, but if you start craving a bigger city, Waimea is 20 miles away. This was a very enjoyable mini-vacation for my wife and I, which we may repeat. "
Serene, Restored House from Sugar Days with Sweeping Ocean Views
10/10 Excellent
"We had a relaxing stay at the View House. It's located close to Honoka'a to get goods, if needed, and also convenient to explore Waipi'o Valley. The house and grounds are as advertised. We took advantage of all of the fresh fruit available. Lots of orange juice and lemonade during our stay! The breeeze coming off the ocean is lovely. "
"The land of Sunshine" - fantastic ocean views, peaceful, romantic getaway
10/10 Excellent
"Kim and James’s cottage was the perfect home base for exploring Big Island’s trails and beaches. Waking up to breakfast with an ocean view and the Pacific breeze was a highlight. The place was spotless, nearly insect-free, and stayed cool enough without AC. It’s ideal for two or three people. The kitchen is simple but has everything you need to cook your own meals, and there are plenty of nearby spots with great local food. James welcomed us personally and was always ready to help, which made us feel truly cared for. Kim’s artwork in the house adds a lovely personal touch. Thank you both for sharing your beautiful place."
"This property is special because of the amazing abundance of plants and flowers on the property, including a river and waterfall!! The night was a symphony of sounds, birds and frogs at night. We also enjoyed the communual netted gazebo on the patio with fairy lights. There is internet, but no cell service meant we didn't spend time on the phone, and why would we in this paradise :) "
Forest Retreat Eco-Lodge - 24 acres of private land.
10/10 Excellent
"My family stayed here for a week for celebrations and a family reunion. The property is stunning and the hosts are kind, welcoming and well-informed on the area and property. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen extremely well-equipped (a vitamix!) The hosts are good communicators and I would highly recommend this place for a big group looking for lots of space in a remote area of Hawaii island. One thing potential guests will want to know-- although we found this place very comfortable, it might not be comfortable for everyone. The ride to the property from the highway is 20 minutes uphill on a bumpy road. There are no shortcuts and if you have a bad back, it might not work for you. Also, there is no heat in the bedrooms. It can get chilly at night, so make sure everyone in your party is well-aware to bring extra layers. I would absolutely recommend Ahu Lani to a group of crunchy travelers who enjoy hiking and cooking together. It's a very very special place."
Waipio Botanical Gardens in the heart of Waipio with waterfall & beach access!
10/10 Excellent
"We have been to the Big Island many times and staying Waipio Gardens was one of the best trips we've ever had there. It is a beautiful property that provided serenity, great hiking and amazing beach time. The house is nestled in the jungle in the valley with gorgeous plants, fruit trees, lots of birds and even wild horses. We picked and enjoyed fresh oranges, grapefruit and papaya. The hosts, Sukumar and Kristi, were very helpful in the planning of the trip as well as ferrying us to and from the house. Getting there was indeed part of the adventure and this location provides the opportunity to experience a part of the island that most will never get to see. Would highly recommend!"
