"Absolutely wonderful people at SAKANOUE, made me feel so welcome and special. I loved the unique, traditional vibe and peaceful atmosphere here. Only slight downside is outdated bathroom, and there is only an AC unit on the wall which isn’t very powerful so the room is quite stuffy at night (in here in September so it’s hot & humid)."

I think the administration should put more rules about to clean each space you use and create consciousness that there are other people than you. "Very traditional ryokan and very clean. The rooms were a decent size and the area was quiet. The staff offers you a book with recommendations such as dining and sight seeing attractions as well as how to get there by bus or transit. The ryokan also offers breakfast and other services for a fee, but the breakfast we had was amazing. They also have a bath you can rent for the hour which was a life saver after walking all day. Would definitely stay again. The staff was also very helpful and...

"It was a very nice ryokan in a residential area, walkable to the Kyoto Station. The only complaint was the AC in the room was not strong enough and the room was kinda stuffy and warm with the 3 of us."

"The room was very well-prepared and the owner is kind and helpful, and seems like she has some interesting stories to tell. I was hoping the bar would be a gathering spot for all the guests, but I never saw it open (appears to be by reservation?) That we were encouraged to return by 9 PM was also a bit onerous (given it is 30 minutes from the city centre), but an understandable part of the guesthouse experience."
