Great place to stay for a couple of nights. 5 minutes walk to main ocean walking track and beach. 10 minutes into town. Very clean and tidy with everything you need to make your stay easy.

Lovely Apartment in New Plymouth

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The apartment was well presented with two queen sized bed rooms which was ideal as I was travelling with my elderly mother. The kitchen and bathroom were spotless. I was surprised there was not a hairdryer supplied as everything else was, including a good selection of pots and pans. There was only a couple of faults. The shower over the bath was not ideal for an elderly person to get into or out of. The walk from the car park to the entrance was down an incredibly steep path. Steps or a handrail would have been of some help. The instructions left in the compendium left us wondering if we had left the unit clean enough not to be charged an additional fee. We were asked to strip the beds and put all linen in a hamper. No worries with that but by the time I had finished cleaning all the cleaners who were waiting for us to leave at 9.45am would have had to do was remake beds, place clean towels on the rack and mop down the floor. There were cobwebs at the front door, I wonder who checks their work?

Great but a few things to consider

The property was very clean with modern decor, very quiet at night. It was well-situated for pleasant and easy access to the Coastal Walkway and the Te Henui River Walkway. We had a great dinner at Juliana's only 2 mins walk away. But the apartment is down a very steep driveway and it has split-level flooring which would put it out of contest for many elderly people or for those with a disability. It is also quite dark, being partly a basement flat.

Too average to be chic

We stayed in the bach for almost a week. The location is fine, really close to the beaches and at walking distance to the city. It fairly quiet considering it is on the main Street (Devon St). The bach is fairly well looked after and it allows some effort as been made to make it looks good and comfortable. However the apartment was lacking too much natural light to be chic. The advertised pictured is probably touched up ! Although there is a fully furnished kitchen we hardly used it because it felt slightly depressing to eat inside in the dark specially since the weather was very fine outside. After a few days, we also discovered that the dishes in the kitchen were not really clean to a proper standard. There is an option to pay extra for a full clean of the bach and it seems previous occupants tried to save the extra fees but the cleanliness may have not been checked properly by the agent - I feel perhaps the best formula is to include cleaning fees from the start specially in this Covid era. To conclude, we felt the rent was very expensive for what we got. It may be suitable for renting a couple of days max but it felt too small for a whole week as we experienced.

Really handy to the coastal walkway and to the main CBD and eateries.
