Property was good for its location. Understandably there are limited dining options in such a sparsely populated area. Gas station was under renovations so we were unable to refill gas in town which was slightly inconvenient.

This lodge was set up perfectly for hikers and skiers with early breakfast options, kitchen facilities, free laundry and a drying room. Host was very personable and accommodating.

Lovely place to stay, great location for exploring the National Park. Very welcoming and helpful staff, we didn't have breakfast but looks good if you choose to. Easy parking right outside the room which is well equipped. Highly recommended.

Nice location within walking distance of a couple good restaurants. Close drive to hiking trails. Bathroom and kitchen are nicely renovated.

Comfortable stay, exceptional service
The lodge was amazing - very comfortable room with access to laundry. Marina was also very helpful with suggestions for activities and hikes when our Tongariro Crossing was cancelled due to weather. We had a great time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

The hotel manager was very helpful and kind. We had breakfast in the morning and he cooked it for us. It was quite delicious! This small hotel, although older is in the perfect location for hiking the mountain crossing.

The place was cozy, warm and welcoming. It’s like going to grandma’s place for a treat. The breakfast was delicious and nutritious. The bread was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive.

I ended up staying here as a last minute switch after the Chateau closed. This lodge was wonderful, clean, comfortable, and welcoming! I would definitely stay again if I visited NZ again. The breakfast was delicious - especially the homemade bread! Also, the free laundry facilities were such a blessing!

A true gem

A great choice of motel
A delightful, quiet, comfortable & full of character property, with hosts that couldn't do enough for us. The location was ideal for visiting the NP, within easy reach to the railway station & the Park and Ride to the NP if you didn't want to drive. Close to restaurants. On a clear day, fantastic views of the volcanoes from the end of the road. Even though we didn't participate, they offered breakfast and a bar. Ample parking. Brilliant!

Lovely location and spacious room . All amenities needed were provided . Comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Being able to do our laundry onsite was a bonus. Great hosts and lovely breakfast provided
