Indulge your inner geek at this popular museum, part of Boston’s Science Park on the Charles River. You’ll need a whole day to see the 700 exhibits spread across three floors: take your pick from the daily programme of live shows, cinema screenings and special events.The emphasis is firmly on interactivity in this family-friendly museum, and visitors are positively encouraged to open drawers, press buttons and turn handles while uncovering fascinating scientific facts. The secrets of the universe unfold as you make your way through the museum.The Live Animal Presentation is popular with the whole family learn more about the ecology of the museum’s resident reptiles, birds and mammals, before taking a walk through the tranquil Butterfly Garden to admire colourful butterflies from all around the world against a backdrop of tropical plants and trees. Take a close look at a 65-million-year-old triceratops skeleton, watch spectacular indoor lightning bolts, or witness the dramatic effect of liquid nitrogen on a variety of objects in the Super Cold Science show.After you’ve checked out the programmes in the IMAX theatre, 3-D digital cinema and planetarium, it’s time to head for the Riverview Café with its spectacular views over the Charles River for a refreshing end to a day of inspiration and adventure.The Museum of Science is open daily apart from major holidays. Entry to most of the live presentations is included in the general Exhibit Halls ticket. Additional charges apply for shows in the planetarium, IMAX and 3-D cinemas. There is a wide choice of public transport to and from the Science Park.
