Ellerton Abbey, near to Marrick, North Yorkshire, England. A fine pad built in 1830, named after the nearby ruins of the cistercian abbey of Ellerton. Featured as the home of Mrs Pumphrey & Tricky-Woo in the TV series "All Creatures Great and Small". Long Scar Plantation is the ablong block of conifers below Ellerton Scar.
Marrick High Mill and Dales Beck This lead smelting mill was built by Thomas Swinbourne in about 1660 and has been described (*) as "the best preserved 17th century lead smelting mill in Britain, and possibly in the world." The lead produced from the smelting would have been taken by packhorse to Stockton-on-Tees via Hartforth near Gilling. "Swaledale, its Mines and Smelting Mills" by Mike Gill
