Agapi Beach Resort - Premium All Inclusive

Agapi Beach Resort - Premium All Inclusive

8/10 Good
"A beautifully maintained resort with great amenities, though room logistics could be smoother. Overall, the resort was beautiful and well-maintained. The location is convenient, with several shops and restaurants within walking distance. Most of the staff were helpful and welcoming, though a few felt slightly distant—perhaps due to a language barrier, as I do not speak Greek. Our stay had a rocky start when our reserved room wasn't available on the first night. I was placed in a bungalow and told it was an upgrade. However, once I moved into my actual reversed room the next day, I realized the reserved room was significantly better. It was modern, upgraded, and featured a wonderful view, whereas the bungalow's (room 654) view was largely blocked by a large tree. Additionally, the bathroom sink water had a strong, unpleasant odor throughout my entire stay. The dining experience was typical for a resort—a mix of great, average, and mediocre options. My friends and I dined at the main buffet and the Italian restaurant, enjoying both. They offered a wide variety of choices, and the bread, crepes, lamb, and drinks were personal highlights. The pool & beach areas were kept spotless, with attentive staff ensuring guests were comfortable. A special shoutout goes to the spa team, especially Erika and her colleague, who were incredibly friendly and kind while booking guests around the property. Tip: The bungalow featured an international converter outlet that should added to all rooms."

Peninsula Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

Peninsula Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

10/10 Excellent
"This property and resort is really a beautiful place. Looking off the cliff into the sea with beautiful sun rises and sunsets. The food was pretty good with lots of options. Beer and wine are always available at multiple locations. Some of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, others treat you a bit rude if you’re an American. If you’re looking for an all inclusive that has late night offerings this place might not be for you. Pools closed at 7pm, open bar at the pool is only open from 7-11 and everything is done by 11:15. Definitely a kid friendly spot as lots of families seemed to enjoy their time. The resort is located very close to Heraklion with easy access to the city. Would definitely recommend adventuring out. Would 100% stay here again"

Lyttos Beach - All Inclusive

10/10 Excellent
"We’ve stayed in a number of five star resorts, but this was one of the best ones! At first we thought it was maybe too big and crowded as we were in peak season, but actually the resort is so vast, with many pools and areas to sunbathe, that it never felt too crowded. The family rooms were a brilliant set up, meaning we could all be together. The entertainment and food was all excellent and varied with themed nights at the restaurant. The fitness classes were great- Vincent was so friendly and kept us motivated. The kids loved the waterpark too! All in all a brilliant family resort."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Marathitis?
The best area to stay in Marathitis is the village centre, particularly around the main square and the streets leading off it.This compact village is built into a hillside, offering splendid views of the surrounding olive groves and the sea in the distance. The centre is home to the local tavernas and a mini-market, making it convenient for dining and picking up essentials. Its traditional Cretan architecture and narrow, winding paths give it a charming, authentic feel.Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find the village centre ideal. It's a place to enjoy quiet evenings, savour local cuisine, and simply relax without the hustle and bustle of larger resorts. The slower pace allows for leisurely walks through the village and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. For families, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, perhaps on the outskirts where villas with private pools are more common, offers a fantastic balance. These properties often provide more space and amenities, allowing children to play freely while still being a short walk or drive from the village's amenities.
When is the best time to go to Marathitis?
The best time to visit Marathitis is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures great for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat and larger crowds of mid-summer. You'll find the sea is warm enough for swimming, and the local tavernas and attractions are fully operational. This period is ideal for couples seeking a relaxed and romantic getaway, as the atmosphere is generally more tranquil, allowing for intimate dining experiences and peaceful strolls along the coastline. For families, late June and the first half of July are also excellent options. While a bit warmer and busier than the shoulder seasons, it's still before the peak August crowds. The warm sea temperatures are great for children to enjoy extended time in the water, and many family-friendly activities are in full swing.
