Enjoy stunning views across Taipei and the mountain forests and stop at the city’s favourite attractions on the way on the Maokong Gondola.

Peer through the glass bottoms of the Maokong Gondola cars and enjoy spectacular views over the city and beyond. Stop in at the Taipei Zoo or head directly to the Zhanghu and Watsuo tea plantations. Take in the pagodas of the Zhinan Temple from the air, or alight at the nearby station and enjoy a stroll within its peaceful walls.

At its highest point the Maokong Gondola hovers 300 meters (1,000 feet) above the ground. Use it to visit some of Taipei’s favourite attractions and be sure to have your camera ready as you take in some of the city’s finest views.

As the gondola climbs above the buildings you will start to appreciate the city from a whole new perspective. Look for the peaked roofs of the temples, the shining river and the mountain forests that fringe the suburbs. You can enjoy a gondola ride as an attraction in itself, though many choose to combine it with a day spent visiting the attractions at which the gondola stops.

Visit the Taipei Zoo, where over 130 different species of birds, as well as pandas and koalas are among the attractions. Nearby is the Zhinan Temple. Come here to experience a truly multidenominational place of worship. Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian elements are combined into the design. Visit the Dream interpretation room and discover what your dreams are telling you.

One of the most popular trips on the Maokang Gondola is to the Chang Nai-miao Tea Museum. Taste the subtle differences between the museum’s different brews, then head to the Tea Promotion Centre to discover how the world’s favourite drink is cultivated, harvested and preserved.

Hike the nearby mountain trails. A popular route takes you to the top of Erge Mountain. This is especially popular in January, when the pink and white blossoms of the apricot trees are at their most spectacular.

Maokang Gondola stations are located at several areas in Taipei and are easily accessible by MRT trains and buses. It is closed on Mondays and there is a small fee to ride it.
