On the weekends, Lumbini Park is packed with locals and visitors enjoying the sun and the lake’s cool water. The park is especially inviting for families, with a wave pool and a toy train for children. Follow the paths through trees and lawns to take in its cheerful atmosphere.
Learn about Hyderabad’s history at a daily laser display in the park’s auditorium. You and 2,000 other viewers will get a 3-D tour of the city.
Lumbini Park is a perfect gateway to the huge lake of Hussain Sagar. Board a ferry and ride out to the Buddha statue that stands in the middle of the water. Hire a speedboat and take a tour of the lake. If you’d rather not go out on the water, picnic on the shore with snacks and drinks from one of the park’s cafés.
Make sure to stick around the lake for the beautiful sunset. Once it’s dark, head to the musical fountain. A spectacular light, water and music show happens nightly.
Another Buddha statue stands in the middle of the park. Come by at night to see the 17.5-metre (57-foot) sculpture brightly illuminated.
The park is open from morning to night every day except Mondays. There’s an entrance fee, plus extra fees for activities like boating, the laser show and rides.
Lumbini Park lies on the southern tip of Hussain Sagar near the Birla Mandir Temple at the centre of Hyderabad. Arrive by bus or train to one of several stops nearby. While here, visit the Birla Mandir Temple a short walk away.
