"We had a wonderful time at Hillside Lodge. It is in stunning countryside (note there is a slightly bumpy 20-30 minute drive from Luang Prabang but we found this to be an added part of the adventure) with a great pool to cool down in either after a days activity or to relax around all day. "The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are luxurious while also maintaining the character of Luang Prabang. The restaurant was delicious as well. The location is perfect for walking around Luang Prabang and down to the Night Market. It was hard to get responses from the hotel at times before we arrived and we had some issues with attempting to arrange transfers through the hotel but it was also a holiday which complicated things. "This hotel is closed. I booked on Expedia. Went to the hotel on 14 July to check-in. The gates were locked. The rooms were padlocked & a woman yelled at me from a window "closed" I then had to find other accommodation carrying a backpack in terrible heat. After being turned away from 3 other hotels I finally found other accommodation. "The view from the balcony had beautiful trees. The free breakfast was a great quality. It included coffee and juice, a choice of omelet, scrambled or fried eggs, toast and jam, and fresh fruit. The staff spoke English well and was very helpful with arranging taxis and giving directions for the only money exchange place that was open during the Lao New Year festivities."
