This hotel was bursting with antique British decor. The staircase is grand with a chandelier, framed art, and decorative carpeting. I arrived in time for tea. I felt like I was having high-tea in an art museum while partaking in the library. It was wonderful! The Penhaligon's toiletries were a delight. I enjoyed the fluffy white robes and complimentary slippers. The tea bags in the room were high quality. The bathroom had neat porcelain knobs on the hot and cold faucets. The carpet was very plush and soft. The linens on the bed felt high-end. The bed frame had a canopy like a partial 4 post bed with curtains to encapsulate you. It felt regal. The lamps, chairs, shelves and antique books made it feel very comfortable like staying in an old world mansion. The breakfast was great. I enjoyed the continental option. It was plenty and lovely. I would stay here again for a vintage 5-star experience. It's not the Ritz but it reminds of historic lodgings that are elegant like Biltmore downtown L.A. or the Mission Inn Riverside. It's a small property so not suitable for a wedding type extravaganza but it has that 5-star attention to detail.
