Holiday Inn Miami - International Airport by IHG

Holiday Inn Miami - International Airport by IHG

8/10 Good
"Their unlisted $20 a day to park in their non-garage parking spaces surrounding the building was a "HUGE PEACE OF ST CHARGE!" Miami is not California or NYC where they charge for the air you breathe. I could justify the charge if they had built a high-rise garage, with inside access. With no rain coat or umbrella I was soaked like a "Drowned Rat" in the torrential down-pour wading through the parking lot with a lake in my shoes. Maintenance problems: Their left end elevator which has a call button on the inside of the door frame had a flooring that was unsafe as I nearly tripped in my water logged shoes on the damaged sheet of linoleum. My room door was a hazard as the hinge automatic closure was set for the "HULK!" At 75 years old it strained my back and it took me nearly 3-times to get the door open. Then it "Assaulted my side" while I was dragging in my carry-on bag, backpack and medically necessary devices bag! Having worked in Las Vegas Nevada hotels where convention companies use their hotel suites for displays, I have never encountered a door set this tight, especially in a handicap accessible room. Positives: The A/C was nice and cold. The bar refrigerator helped keep my medically necessary liquids cooled. The bed was very comfortable. Recommendation: Adjust your bloody door closures to just the minimum necessary for auto-closing. Also, MIA International has many early flights. Offer something to eat early. Even a sack meal. Add web listing $20 DAILY parking fee!"

Regency Miami Airport by Sonesta

Regency Miami Airport by Sonesta

8/10 Good
"I had a really good stay at Regency by Sonesta and would definitely return. It’s not the newest or most luxurious hotel, but for a weekend trip it was comfortable, convenient, and a great value for the price. Our room was spacious enough for two, comfortable, and generally clean, although it could use some updating. The bed was especially comfortable, which is something I really appreciate when staying at hotels. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was also great. The location was convenient, and the airport shuttle was a major plus. It ran about every 30–40 minutes and made getting to and from the airport much easier. There were a few times we tried calling the front desk or restaurant from the room and couldn’t get an answer, so they may have been a little understaffed at times, but this wasn’t a major issue. We paid separately for breakfast and really enjoyed the food. The pool area was nice, and I loved that the bar could bring drinks directly to us while we were by the pool. The hotel was also quiet and felt very safe. Overall, I think Regency by Sonesta offers good value, especially for a short stay. I enjoyed my experience and would happily stay here again."
