"Hotel was well run and the chef kindly cooked some food of mine due to numerous dietary restricttions, and did it beautifully. Dog was welcome and much kindness shown to both of us. Would highly recommend particularly to solo travellers or those with dog."

"A great welcome after a long delayed trip. Our room was excellent, clean tidy with comfortable beds & quality bedding. Super large walk in shower room. Breakfast was superb. Staff very helpful & friendly. The location is perfect for a 10 minute walk into Barnstaple town centre along the promenade by the river. An excellent stay, shame it was only for one night. Highly recommend."

"A really enjoyable stay. Great communication before our arrival meant no problems with the self-service check-in. Nice room at the back of the building - no views, but couldn't hear the busy road at all. Comfortable bed, lovely shower room. The communal snug was great - kettle, microwave, fridge, washing up facilities and supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits. Excellent continental breakfast served in the motorbike shop/cafe with a very friendly member of staff doing an excellent job on only her second day. We will definitely come again! "

"It has only been 2 months since my last stay here and it was as good as ever. Staff as always were really friendly and make you feel at home. I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening meal as well as a great breakfast. A decent night's sleep set me up for the day and I look forward to coming back here."

"Great location minutes away from cafés, pubs and eateries. Funicular virtually next door. Lovely old hotel, clean and full of character though indeed of a little tlc. We were made very welcome and our rooms were upgraded at no extra cost with amazing views across the valley. Very dog friendly and would definitely stay there again. Thank you. "
