"Though the guesthouse is unprepossessing from the outside, inside it’s a different story. The rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean and with welcoming tea, coffee and biscuits. There are no staff so access is coded, but easy and secure and there are clear instructions (admittedly only in English) everywhere.
Breakfast, again self-service, was first-rate with plenty of choice, including fresh fruit.
All in all great accommodation at a very reasonable price !"

"Stayed at the Coat & Bear while visiting Highclere Castle. I had a room with 2 beds and it was very spacious. The staff was very nice and the food at the pub was delicious. The town of Newbury is very nice and walkable and the hotel is only about a 10-15 min walk to the Newbury train station. I would definitely stay here again. "

"We stayed at The Randolph for three nights in September 2005. We had breakfast there three times and dinner once. The dinner was excellent and the service was superb and a tribute to the superb staff my wife and I cannot praise the food and service enough. The breakfasts were equally superb with a wide selection of breakfast food at the buffet.
