"Really lovely venue. Clean, spacious and attentive staff. They went out of their way to help! The food was delicious- we had the breakfast and, even as a big eater, I had to leave some of the full veggie english (amazing sausages!)! The pancakes were great too! We also used the packed lunch making facility for our climb to Helvellyn (which you can do from the hotel!) and this was also really nice. Would highly recommend. The only thing that would improve the hotel for me would be a dry room...

Mill House - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

"Mill House is situated in one of the prettiest and most peaceful parts of Braithwaite. Just across The Puddle (the road to the cottage) is Coledale Beck with its little bridges adorned with flowers. The cottage itself is generously sized, well-appointed and was spotlessly clean. It is light inside and the lounge/dining-room/kitchen is surrounded with windows and lovely views. The bedrooms share these views, and the master bedroom is dual aspect looking down the Beck on one side towards Skiddaw and up The Puddle the other side towards Kinn. The cottage has a private driveway though the gates are a little narrow for a large car. The garden at the back is magnificent and allows you to relax to the sound of the Beck. One thing we would particularly praise about the kitchen is that two cupboards were empty meaning we had places to store our food and some of our own utensils. There was very little to fault but in the interests of constructive criticism, the ensuite basin is just suitable for handwashing. Any other washing would need to use the full-sized basin in the bathroom which might result in a queue should there be six people staying. We would also have liked places in the bathroom to hang bath towels and places in the kitchen to hang tea towels."

"After many stays at Millside, we were not disappointed at our recent visit. Small sunny and enclosed outside paved area surrounded by shrubs. Nice to see that there has been a bit of a tidy up of the planted areas. Views of Skiddaw and Barrow. Comfortable leather sofas, and good to have a separate kitchen/dining area. Bedrooms, although small are perfectly adequate with more than ample storage. The main bed is very comfortable, providing a great sleep. Useful to have a separate shower cubicle in the bathroom that has views of Barrow. Off road parking is a real bonus, we had no issues driving in and out of the drive despite cars parked on the road outside cottages opposite. Our spaniel loved the doggy welcome pack. Basic supplies are provided for humans, although guests will need to provide cleaning sprays, kitchen roll, washing machine powder/tablets as well as additional dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid as the welcome pack is quite basic. A small supply of tea bags, coffee and milk sachets and biscuits is also provided. The Village Shop is just a minute away and well stocked for basics as well as bread and cakes. Booths in Keswick is a couple of miles away as is a Co-op. Most online stores deliver to the village. Fellside Cafe/Bistro is highly recommended for excellent all day food and drinks. Super friendly. Coledale Inn has great views from the beer garden. Friendly staff and good food - huge portions. Endless low or high level walks from the door. Keswick Cottages provide excellent customer service, and their housekeeper was superb. We look forward to returning."

"This is a lovely bungalow with three good-sized bedrooms (and three bathrooms), a great living room with views of the hills and a kitchen with everything you need in it. This was our third stay and standards have not slipped at all. It is convenient for Keswick and the hills round and about and there are several good eating places within walking distance. We had one very minor issue with the house partway through, but Keswick Holidays sent someone within three hours to sort it out - cannot fault their service! We hope to be back again in the near future."
