"The hotel is fantastic and we ate in the Italian and Portuguese restaurants. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Room was great and the hotel picked up from the passports that it was my wife’s birthday and left some bubbles for us when we returned from a Levada walk. Turn left out of hotel and walk 20 mins and some great restaurants got to try Bistrot Des Agnes. Turn right and 25 mins walk into Funchal. We’re coming back and will definitely stay at Porto Mare again"

"Great location, super nice staff, comfortable rooms and good varied buffet breakfast only down side was that the room with ocean view did not have much of a view at all. It was in a lateral at the back and you could only see a little patch in the distance. Not what I was expecting when I booked room with an ocean view."

"I couldn’t have been happier with my stay at the hotel (4 nights). Starting with the staff that were always very helpful and kind to the breakfast in the morning, which was always amazing. The hotel is very well kept and clean. The location was perfect. I would definitely recommend it. Amazing!!!!"
