"I really loved this hotel. It’s modern inside and perfectly located in the center of Funchal. The place is spotless, the beds are comfortable, and the shower was excellent. For one person, the room size was just right, but if you’re traveling with someone else, you’ll definitely want a larger room. The only drawback was parking. You have to use a parkade about 5–10 minutes down the road at €20 a night, which can be a bit of a hassle. There’s nowhere to pull up in front of the hotel without blocking the road, so carrying luggage across cobblestone sidewalks isn’t the easiest. I had to haul mine most of the way. That said, I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it. While you’re in Funchal, I suggest grabbing sushi at Yuki and checking out Brasa for a fire-cooked meal. Don’t miss out on a Poncha while you’re there. "

"Our stay at the Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism by the staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a short walk from Funchal’s charming center, yet peaceful and right on the ocean. The views from the rooms and terraces are breathtaking, especially at sunset. We particularly loved the choice of swimming pools: the large sea-water pool with direct access to the ocean was a highlight, while the indoor heated pool provided the perfect retreat in the evenings. Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Every meal we had at the hotel was beautifully presented and delicious, with attentive service to match. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering all the modern amenities while still maintaining a relaxed, island atmosphere. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring we woke up refreshed each day. What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff’s dedication to excellence—they consistently went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. We were given the warmest welcome by Samoume, who truly went above We left feeling completely relaxed and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic Madeiran hospitality, Pestana Carlton Madeira is the place to be."
