Great value for an overnight stay. No screens on doors or windows means a stuffy room as biting insects will invade otherwise.

The Lake Matheson Motel is well located and the arrival experience was great. The staff are really good and provided some great insights in to nearby attractions. The room was clean and adequate.

A good place to stop and enjoy the beauty of Fox Glacier. Great restaurant to eat at literally a short wander up the road

The two bedroom apartment was as depicted in the photos. It was reasonably basic and the walls were quite thin. The bathroom tap and fan noise could be heard everywhere in the apartment. Parking was directly out the front which was very good. Reception staff were lovely and the area is flat and walkable to various eating places. It’s close to the lovely lake Matheson walk, and a fantastic view of Fox Glacier from Peak view is a short drive down the road. Beds were okay but the pillows were very flat and not comfortable.

A great place to stay while we explored around Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers - we wished we could have stayed longer. Probably the most comfortable beds during our whole trip. The staff were lovely, the room was spacious and well set up. We were surprisingly warm and snug, despite the cool weather. A gorgeous location, and an easy stroll to fabulous dining. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is based in a great safe and quiet location. In addition, there is an impressive restaurant and bar just up the road. I thoroughly recommend staying at the Lake Matheson Motel.

Perfect stop in Fox for our heli-hike in the morning for our family of 4. Modern, clean and warm with easy check in and out. Also excellent communication with Debbie regarding road closures due to landslide on the route from Wanaka.

Not perfect, but good stay
Overall it was a decent stay, but I was disappointed I did not get the room I booked. I made note of it shortly after check in, but it was not acknowledged. Not the end of the world, but it’s just annoying there was no attention to it. Otherwise, it was fine.

Excellent Motel!
It feels like a brand new room with everything you need, nice kitchen and including a rice cooker. Very good reception and helpful staff. We love to stay and have already recommended it to friends!

We received a friendly welcome. The unit was very clean and had a wonderfully powerful heater which was great. The undercover parking outside the unit door was brilliant. We personally found the beds too soft which meant we didn't sleep as well as we'd have liked, although I appreciate some people like softer beds. It is a very quiet rural area and the Lake Matheson / Fox Glacier walkways are literally down the road a few kilometers.

Super comfy, perfect. Superb recommendation for dinner nearby, and a dark brown (arguably black) cat waved us goodluck from our porch stairs for our heli-hike!!
