"Pleasant stay at Pala. "

"Check in staff, pool/towel staff, and valet came across friendly and helpful as a couple who are people of color. The food and drinks from the market place were quite expensive in order to have little to no taste/flavor. Some of the food from Bob’s Steakhouse was good. Some of our food selections were dried out or very little flavor. The duck, oysters, and mashed potatoes were good. The baked potato was dried out. The salmon was cooked well, but tasted flavorless. The room appeared clean overall. But the curtain rod had what seemed like years worth of cobwebs that reached down to the lamp with a live spider that was huge. "

" Everything was monetized: (1) this was a suburban hotel with a large uncovered, ungated, parking lot on the property. Parking is free at most similar hotels. Doubletree charged $28 a night for the privilege. (2) The breakfast spread was no different in kind or quality to the free breakfasts found at at best western or holiday inn express hotels-- scrambled eggs, assortments of small yoguarts, make your own waffles, selections of breads and ceareal. Double tree chargred 25 for that breakfast buffet. (3) We were offered a delayed checkout to 2pm ( typically a free courtesy offered if requested). Doubletree wanted $25 an extended checkout. As for regular cleaning, there a noticeable blue paper trash in the hallway when we arrived in Friday and it was still there when whe left on Sunday morning. "

"Room is clean. Breakfast was good. Staff was helpful. The only thing was that there was a room being aired out a couple of room across from ours and had the hallway smelling like dirty socks. Parking space was small. They should have trucks park in the bigger lot."

"The vent in the room was dirty. The wall paper was peeling. The floor in the elevator was dirty. "

"The location is amazing. Right on the beach. Close to lots of good eats. Recommend getting a 2nd or 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking beach. Room was clean, updated and comfortable. Check in day was great. However Check out day was rough. Tried to sleep in, but so much loud noise for renovations and the Zephyr Café stunk. Rude woman working there and coffee was terrible. So I would recommend hotel. But staff could be better and skip cafe."

"The resort was well kept & up to date. The rooms were super clean. A big plus was how comfortable the beds were. All the staff was super helpful and kind. Great stay over all!"

"Wonderful hotel with the perfect location! Close to restaurants/shops and coffee shops. Be sure to walk down the beach to Caroline’s Beach Cafe. Delicious food and beautiful view. Hotel staff were so nice and did a wonderful job of cleaning our room daily. Due to current renovations, we were upgraded to an ocean front room at no extra charge. Beautiful! We would definitely recommend this hotel. We will be back. "
