"Convenient location, clean rooms and friendly staff."

"It waa fine for what we needed. Just a place to sleep and shower. The air-conditioning was very loud and didn't really cool the room. Everything was moist in the room. TV remote didn't work. The curtains hardly kept any light out so it looked like morning time all night. Parking was easy and the check in staff was pleasant. Absolutely zero items besides 2 little soaps. I would stay here again but I'd bring a blackout curtain to "

"Breakfast was really good. Our sink did not drain. We stayed one night only and there was a power outage, which is out of their control. It affected all of Carlsbad. They kicked everyone out of the hotel and into the parking lot for 30 to 40 minutes I would guess. They eventually decided we could reside in the hotel with the power out... "

"There was a couple of cockroaches in the restroom. One being a pregnant one with the egg hanging off. Ran into a crevice in The floorboard. Room 269. There was also a couple of insects on the bed which were easy to spot because of the white sheets. "

"Nothing like the pictures or description. We booked the family suite with a king bed and bunk beds pictures show couch and panted rooms king bed updated bunk beds but when we walked in it was so outdated full size bed old wobbly bunk beds ac units that stunk like urine if you ran them bath tubs that were falling apart and hair already in it a 1” gap under the front door killed bugs already on ceiling and walls and killed 3 more during or stay.. they have a giant lobby/waiting/eating area but super small breakfast area to get food in a little room I am a hotel engineer myself and would try to avoid this place by any means necessary "

"2 Stars for motel, 5 stars for the staff. The staff was very welcoming and very friendly, but from there everything else was very underwhelming. Small dark room, cheap wobbly furniture, sticky carpet, sloppy paint job. Thin cheap towels, looked clean, but didn’t smell freshly laundered. They do provide decent body wash, shampoo & conditioner, and body lotion. And thankfully the bedding was clean, and smelled laundered. The property itself was dirty and poorly kept. The complementary breakfast had plenty of food, However if you have any dietary restrictions, there were no non-diary options of milk or yogurt, and no healthy oatmeal toppings like nuts/seeds, fresh berries, cinnamon, etc. There was some fresh whole fruits available, so that was nice. And the location is within walking distance to the beach, which was also nice. Bottom line, if you’re only staying a night or two on your way somewhere else, and don’t want to pay a fortune, this would be an ok choice. I would not recommend this motel for vacations or an extended stay. But just to end on a good note, the staff was great!"

"My family and I spent the day at LegoLand and decided to book Carlsbad By The Sea for a short stay-cation. The main lobby is currently under construction but the temporary lobby was easy to find via signs. The receptionist was warm, kind, and professional. Check-in was very simple! Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Our 3 year old especially enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi. We were able to walk across the parking lot to the Windmill food hall, where we had many dining options. The hotel is also located across the street from Carlsbad Outlets and right by the freeway. Overall, great location, great pricing, courteous staff, CLEAN room. Highly recommend!"
