"Not quite the picture i saw when i booked it but it was a nice stay. Rustic. Friendly and helpful staff. The property is going through a remodel over the winter so I am looking forward to the updates."

"Staying at this place was ok. The quality of some of the guests left me nervous of my surroundings but I was able to double lock myself in. Though I had to fight with my door and lift it to get the door locked I was able. My keys didn’t want to work half the time either but the customer service I received from that was great. Cleanliness left me a bit squirmy. I put on a brand new pair of white spa socks and a walk across the room and back they were black on the bottom. The TV had a line...

"Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Property seemed to be under construction in some areas, but overall very clean and nice. It's a little bit of a walk to the Bar Harbor shops and restaurants (25 minute walk/3 minute drive), but parking is free and so is breakfast! There is a restaurant on site that we did not eat at, so I can't review, but the breakfast was good and convenient (hot & cold choices). Hotel is right off the beach; highly recommend splurging for the ocean view!"

"We stayed at Breakwater in October 2023 with two young families. The apartment is well stocked and worked well for two couples with three kids under 4. Luke was super accomodating and provided us with pack n plays and a high chair, and was also very responsive. Location is great - walk across the street to the harbor to check out boats and birds, or walk down to the village for breakfast or dinner. We loved our stay in Southwest Harbor and at Breakwater. "Note: We stayed in early May, before peak season. We loved EVERYTHING about this hotel. The hotel itself, the staff, the breakfast. I have absolutely nothing bad to say. We asked for late checkout on our last day because we wanted to go for one last hike and then come back and shower, and it was not a problem at all. I imagine that would be different had it been peak season, so I'm glad we booked in the off season. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Bar Harbor. "
