"Arrived at hotel to find it closed due to housing refugees. Neither the hotel nor yourselves contacted me prior to arriving there with this information. We had travelled quite a distance to attend a family function, all hotels in the area were fully booked, therefore the four of us (2 in our sixties and 2 in their eighties) ended up sleeping on relatives sofas. This is totally unacceptable on all counts. This is the 1st time I have used Hotels.com and the service provided does not encourage me...

"Nice enough staff. The pub looked like a 1970’s Benidorm recreation of a British pub with a ceiling full of beer mats. Food was ok but a little overpriced for pub grub. The outside area was filthy. The doors to the outbuildings that house the rooms were ramshackle. The rooms themselves looked like they were last decorated about 30 years ago. The TV was a 20 year old mini tv with free view that didn’t hold the signal. Neither tv or kettle had a PAT testing sticker. The bathroom was grubby...

"This stay corrosponded with a 50th birthday we were invited to, and chose this accomodation as it was fairly close! We arrived, and no one answered the door, I then phoned, a very polite helpful gentleman let us in, and apologised profusely for not hearing the bell. I was upset at first, that my sister was on the ground floor, and I was on the top floor, but the gentleman carried up my case, I am 67 my sister 75! However both rooms were in very good condition extremely clean, and as I said to...

"At the time of our visit, the hotel had had only one day to assimilate the government instructions to close restaurants and bars. Despite this, the staff had organised themselves to allow guests to prepare a takeaway breakfast, to collect this without close contact with either staff or other guests and still provide a friendly, helpful service."

"The people were friendly, the food was very good, plenty of free parking. The hotel itself was fine, although our room in the courtyard was rather tired and could do with a makeover and it was impossible to get WiFi in that room. Very conveniently situated for Donington Park race circuit."

"We were booked for an overnight stay to enable a early morning start in Nottingham. This hotel used to be a favourite but has now become to corporate. £8 to park overnight for one night while a guest of the hotel is just a hidden charge that should be included in the room rate. Reception staff and manager showed appalling service. Redeeming factor was an excellent breakfast."
